Changing question streams again, based on new reading.

It never crossed my mind that this would be a thing, but what are the thoughts from those actually *at* an AA wholly owned right now on qualified pilots being held at said regional to normal flow timing even with an active app to mainline AA?

Background - I'm mil and soon to be retiring. With all fighter time, I have the magic stupid numbers of >1000 ME jet PIC, but less than 1500 TT. So, restricted ATP (~1300TT with no mil sortie multiplier) and not expecting a call from mainline until I change those numbers. Easy answer - regional. Gets me into the 121 game, more/broader experience, and then have an actually competitive app. Similar folks are starting to hear that getting into a wholly owned regional basically makes your app N/A to mainline until it's your time to flow at 3 or 5 or eleventy years.

True?

Not true at all. I know several people who were at Envoy who have gotten hired off the street in the last couple of years. All have had something on their app that helped them get hired. Whether it be an internship at AA in the past, having female genitalia, former military, other connections at AA, you've got to have something to make your app stand out. Flying for the military will definitely help your case in getting hired off of the street.

Makes sense. Seems really odd it would just basically toss your app because you....already work for the airline group?

Yeah...it doesn't. Being at a WO doesn't help your cause nor does it hurt your cause at getting to AA outside of the flow. It's all about having the right things on your app. Good luck!

I could be wrong, but I thought at PSA you couldn't get hires at AA outside of flow.

I would love if you could produce one lie the recruiting department has personally told you. Not some "my buddy talked to his buddy who knows a new hire that said this".

I'm not totally sure, but I don't think that's correct. I believe one of their CPs got hired outside of the flow a couple of months back.

We've had 7 hires outside the flow in the last couple months. Before that, it was almost zero.

It is possible, and starting to increase, but it still doesn't happen often. We send more to Delta every month than we do AA, even with the flow.

Does cr700 count as the recruiting department? He has posted a few whoppers on this board recently.
