This was unexpected. I certainly thought things would stretch out to 2020. Many people had to bail on short notice.
What do you expect people to do? Stay til the bitter end, and probably go non-current?
“Whipsaw” is a stupid ass term. Everything can be thought of as a “whipsaw.” It’s meaningless. There are no “whipsaw-free” jobs-unless you work for yourself.

What are folks supposed to do?

Yes, a 4/2012 hire. Which would be like a mid seniority CA at any other regional. I only spoke with him once via email. He gave me a very pro company vibe, almost as if his response was coming from management itself. I even called him out on it. Half of these union guys get a little too cozy with management and forget who they represent. Don’t know what to make of this guy.

The lack of communication from “management” (care takers is probably a better phrase), and union leadership is stunning. Pretty much the only communication we’ve had recently is admonishment to ignore rumors and the regular announcement of bad news. Oh, and an occasional “keep the faith.”
