We're rooting for you out here...

I am glad to hear that the 3 pilots who will be left at LASA on the last day are not mad about being locked out of the contract process.

If a senior pilot isn’t available, it’s because they didn’t bid for that day off. Life is about choices. If it’s that important to this senior pilot, then he will bid for it. If not, then a more junior guy may have access to it. The lines are awarded in seniority order, and that’s when you have the chance to make sure you are available.

ILIW isn't actually as mad as it seems. Even well past 10pm and the following day I've been able to make things happen, including dropping days. Some days will go 0 or negative fast, others will stay positive the whole window.

At least if we go to PBS, there will be rigs and no more of these ridiculous low credit pairings.

So a pilot has to bid to have the ILIW period off in order to take advantage of that??? Sorry. That's idiotic. That's not how seniority is supposed to work. You have to bid off a 1-hour block in order to make your schedule ok the following month.

Yup. I’ve had two do this twice during Valentine’s Day and twice at Nashville Predators playoff games. It’s pretty insane. A few times a fellow crewmember has helped out. Then sometimes, you’re just SOL.

Believe me, I’d rather just have PBS and be done with it.

Heck, it isn't about line bidding versus PBS. We had line bidding and, while it's been a few years, I don't remember anything like this. I'm sure the junior pilots just lap it up as it gives them a chance to turn the tables on senior pilots. But that's not how seniority is supposed to work. Senior pilots have paid their dues and should be rewarded by having a higher priority in such issues.

Also, need to get rid of the garbage of not being able to add trips on top of your 75 hours of guarantee if the company is too lazy to build lines worth 75 hours. All the ORD CRJ trips in October are about 60 hours. I understand anything picked up is "free" until we hit 75 hours. What about overblock and extensions? Also "free" until we hit 75 hours??

BlueRaiderAV8R 09-07-2018 08:08 AM

The senior pilots get their chance in the initial bid.
