Unfortunately, it’s all-encompassing. Not sure how we get from 1600+ pilots to under 1100 in two months. Are my mathematics wrong?

More than 170 are currently on EMP leave...

Several hundred others are on some other kind of leave or non-bidding status (MIL, MED, FI, GI, MGMT, ALP, etc.)

About 100 projected to go to Kalitta in the coming months...

After considering all of these factors, it becomes a realistic number.

How many ASA pilots really come over then? What choices are they being given?

How many ultimately come over is TBD, but the next couple of months will be telling. Several ATL and DFW pilots have already bid over to the ORD CRJ-200 base which begins in October, and will continue to be wound up over the coming months as more planes come online.

CRJ ORD. Only a couple months ago we thought we’d have a selection of ERJ vacancies to choose from.

They keep moving the target and it’s impossible to plan life beyond next month, hence the continued attrition.

I think we’re looking at 100-120 captain slots for the ASA side after the AA wind-down. IMO, of course.

ORD CRJ vacancies need to be filled first with those already typed on the CRJ. United wants those planes flying ASAP and this was done to avoid a training backlog.

I think once the DL and AA flying are kaput for good, and everyone is on the (new, probably) L-Xjet contract, then yes. Everything will be open for bid by anyone.

If it goes like other regionals with new types, there will be an initial cadre of senior pilots that move over. With these specific senior pilots, the FAA will waive the “green on green” limitation and they will fly both seats. It will be captain on captain flying for a couple of months. Then, as these captains gain left seat experience, the rest of pilots start filling in —— both captains and first officers.

I don’t know whether there could be an agreement between SkyWest and ExpressJet to allow the ExpressJet captains gain experience through the SkyWest system or not. I kinda doubt it, but you never know.

Does Xjet know the pace of Ejets coming on board? Faster than 2 per month?

These are exciting times for ExpressJet.

There’s no telling what the company does. It would SEEM that everyone can bid for whatever.....but so far the CRJ guys are kinda getting shafted due to operational necessity.
