Try reading the SkyWest annual reports for the past several years for their motivation for selling Xjet. (I know Mesa would buy Xjet if it was on the market. They are in the market and just raised cash from an IPO. Lol.)

Why would anyone want to buy an expensive top heavy pilot group?

Mesa certainly wouldn’t do it. JO is too cheap.
The only ones that would buy Xjet are the ones relying on that top heavy pilot group to do their regional flying. Wait, who is that come mid-January?
To turn Xjet around just requires expanding Xjet’s flying with a desirable airplane. Wait, who can make that happen? Hint: the same ones who are relying on the top heavy pilot group to do their regional flying.
There may not be a flow coming next year, but I think things will be brighter long term for Xjet come Feb 1st and for many months to come (assuming the pilot group is willing to not be an obstacle).
