Good reasons. Would make sense in an interview. Doesn’t just sound like greener pastures.

Do you commute? I’m sorry but I didn’t plan for or expect a base that was here for 20+ years to downsize or close altogether leading me to fly halfway around the country just to get to work.

I think interviewers would understand that no? The E-175 and pay bump are secondary.

Again, not moving that direction yet but need to have backup plans if this does all happen

I think they think everyone will commmute anywhere, indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Republic and SkyWest hold on to bases they’ve had since day one and they’re staffing them relatively well. This job doesn’t pay well enough to make a long-term commute affordable, IMO. Additionally, the perpetually low staffing makes schedules tough— even for locals.

If you want better than 35%, come to Endeavor and enjoy a just over 50% rate to Delta.

I think it’s understandable but bases shrink and close at all levels so you would need to be very careful with how you word it. In general if you are talking about bases at all in an interview it is not good.

Living in base is [almost] everything.

Skywest lost 70 Captain slots on the 175 in ORD. Guess who added 80 captain slots in ORD on the 175

Remind them of Colgan Air commuting pilot from SEA to EWR that crashed in Buffalo.
You are doing it to not do a double commute, and Expressjet doesn't offer Commuter Hotels. It is a safety and financial decision. That should resolve their questions.
