What's New XJT
#43
I see XJT becoming the lead regional for United. This is not a bad place to fly for at all. We went from 7 year upgrades to you need 1000 of 121 and you upgrade immediately. Compared to other carriers we are performing really well and United see that. I would really love to see Mesa leave Houston if not shrink dramatically.

Talk about one heck of a training backlog with 2 sims. The guys in the training center are worn slap out throwing together the 175 program in such short notice just to see all their hard work disappear. I can't imagine they will be very motivated right now. Upgrades times will increase again dramatically. Get your popcorn ready.

Lol at this. It is still a net gain of airframes. What you heard came from someone who has no clue.

I assume a lot of our training is going to once again have to be conducted in St. Louis or maybe Phoenix for the rest of the year. There are plenty of 145 sims out there the company can access. Don’t kid yourself.

Zero new flying from this. Keep that “Subodh Spin” going though.

Yes the 175 crews are going back to the 145. However math still doesn’t support your downgrade/upgrade logic “that you have heard”. The company is losing 25-175’s, and getting 36-145’s that’s still 11 more airframes that XJT needs to staff. That means more upgrades and more FO hiring.
The 175’s also aren’t all leaving tomorrow or at once. The aircraft will start to leave in April and it will take about a year to hand them all over. That is also the same timeframe the TSA-145’s should be returning to XJT.
Because XJT is picking up flying that was being done by another carrier the total lines will also stay the same or increase as 175 routes are traded for TSA-145 routes.
The 175 crews also have to be trained/re-certified on the 145. Which will take some time.
Will the super senior CA’s leave over this? I highly doubt it, at least not in mass. Seniority has its perks in pay and privileges, and I expect them to enjoy those privileges until they find something that makes it worthwhile for them to give it up.
Will some junior 175 pilots leave and go over to Skywest where they can get pay credit and fly the same aircraft for slightly higher pay. Yes some will, some 145 pilots may make that jump too.
Is XJT going to close shop? Nope, not for at least a few more years. Will this stop people from coming here? No it won’t. If people were coming here thinking they had a chance of the 175 as day one hires they weren’t doing their research. The 175 is only a fraction of our fleet
Is this the best news for the company? No it isn’t. Is this the worst news for the company? It absolutely is not.

Xjet also signed an additional CPA for 36 E145. But who really knows. I have not seen the official 8k filing yet.
Anyway you look at it it’s growth if you do the math. You just won’t be flying a “cool” plane. Currently Xjet is flying 90 aircraft (65 e145/25 e175). With the addition of 36 more e145 that brings the total to 151 aircraft.
