Hey all, just want to clarify the above comments...since I am a new hire and have had my training put on hold. Should I consider alternate options? I want to wait on XJT, however I also know that things are so fluid at the moment that I am not promised anything.

Yep. Recovery plan begins towards the end of the 4th quarter so if there is a drawdown of 50 seat flying, I’d imagine it would start in September. What this looks like for each individual airline is anyone’s guess but I heard it stated with my own ears on the call today. I Immediately thought of XJT (where I began my career in 1998) and the loss of the 175 flying and what this might mean. Hopefully, it means the 175s stay at XJT instead of being transferred to SkyWest with XJT being part owned by UAL. I’d imagine we should know something fairly soon given the statement making rounds around the industry right now.

Is that what he meant? What 50 seat mainline flying does United currently have that he says won't survive this?

Union Update: 02 April 2020
All,
It was brought to our attention that during this afternoon's United Airlines Town Hall meeting, United Airlines President Scott Kirby spoke about simplifying the mainline fleet plan, which could include eliminating 50-seat aircraft from their fleet. No one from your ALPA leadership team was on the call to hear the context of these statements and ExpressJet leadership was also caught off guard by these comments. We are aware of the situation and are working to find out the details of this United plan and how ExpressJet fits into it. At this time, we still believe regional airlines play a critical role in servicing small, medium, and large cities in North America, and that the regional market is a necessary component of the overall United plan. We believe that ExpressJet will survive this economic downturn and continue to be a reliable partner for United. The second we know otherwise, we will clearly communicate that to you.
Please give us a day or two to figure out the details of the news that was shared today. We will keep you updated with MEC Alerts and Updates as warranted.
