Who really knows what's going to happen IMO. This is unprecedented, there are runways filled with parked planes. Looking out our own flow board before and I'd say 70% of our planes aren't even online. Maybe we won't survive if this goes on for months, but that will be the least of our problems if the whole economy collapses.

Hey all, just want to clarify the above comments...since I am a new hire and have had my training put on hold. Should I consider alternate options? I want to wait on XJT, however I also know that things are so fluid at the moment that I am not promised anything.

No way to know for sure but if I were in your shoes, I'd apply to every jet cargo airline (prop operators too if I needed an income for than I needed jet SIC). Beat the rush, gonna be a line around the block in a few months.

Will ExpressJet survive this?

Is that what he meant? What 50 seat mainline flying does United currently have that he says won't survive this?

I just saw a clip of his comment that was posted on the pilot FB page. After hearing that...I’m not sure.

If it’s exactly what we think it is. C5, G7, ZW are going to be with us in the unemployment line.

Thanks very much for the advice. I will definitely look into that. I know it’s a crazy time for everyone right now with so many uncertainties. I am thinking of all the pilots affected across the world. It definitely puts things into perspective how things can change so quick. All the best to you and everyone else.

Iv said all along that this will change the way the airlines operate on a massive level. 50 seat jets have a Roll in small markets that can only handle a single flight a day. Right now the 50 exists for frequency to placate the “business” traveler. Does United need 8 flights a day from DEN-DRO? Put bigger planes and cut to 3 a day morning afternoon and evening. The travelers will have to adapt.

That means he doesn’t plan to use 50 seaters to fly mainline routes. That doesn’t mean he plans to eliminate 50 seat flying.

There’s quite literally no context on the video clip. I don’t know how legal that video clip even is—I’d never post it myself anywhere, private or public space. I’d highly suggest nobody post it.

Will only work until a competitor offers 4 a day for a dollar cheaper. We’ve seen this game before. The last five years of capacity discipline at the majors is the outlier and shouldn’t be counted on to return in the race for market share after this.

maybe this is more safe to post. Not verified, but it’s something that seems kind of reputable
