The individual companies operations can get really volitile at times. Real feast or famine. They are just so expensive to own and operate, especially the fuel costs. Most of the BBJ operations are off shore (Europe, Middle East, and Asia). Its definately a great airplane and its nice to be able to fly for 11 hours plus reserves. However the cockpit was much more quiet in the challenger. That makes a big difference on the long hauls.

I am sure you have looked into it, but if not;
Fractionals? You have the time, experience...
Flex Jet (Challenger) or NetJets (BBJ, although might be awhile), something like that? They aren't going anywhere for awhile, more stable than the private side.

Thanks thats good advise. I dont think anyone getting hired now will ever see the BBJ at NetJets though. However, I am over the big airplane quest. Its really about QOL now.

Gotcha. However, I don't know how much QOL airline flying will give you, until you get seniority. Pay will be low, RESERVE!!! As long as you know what you are getting into. Airline and "stable" don't go together.
What ever you do though, good luck. With those times I would look at other places in addition to a "regional".

Not much sitting Reserve here at XJT now. I know guys who held lines right off the bat out of training recently. You are probably looking at West Coast based right now. Upgrade is quick. My pay has doubled every year i have been here and QOL has been Awesome in My opinion. Up till now i havent commuted so that helps. I upgraded at 2 years they are telling us in Upgrade now that the company is projecting upgrades to go down further to a year and a half. Good luck with you choices.

They're really saying 1.5 years? Man, that just seems so low to me. They gotta mean on the junior branded side I guess, cuz I know here in IAH it's really slowed down

They gave me some departure out of somewhere in mexico and had me finger fly it. was easy, they're very similar to american plates. They asked me crossing altitudes, airspeed restriction (know all your airspeed restrictions, inside class B, below class B, in class C, etc) . know when you need an alternate, and what the wx needs to be there to allow it to be filed as an alternate.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]

good luck!
new at flying...forgive my ignorance...but, what would you do if your captain was drinking past 8 hour rule?

Do you want the interview answer or the real-world answer?
