Default ExpressJet hiring / Pilot Pool?

Can someone who is familiar with ExpressJets current hiring process help clarify, what is the status of them hiring into pilot pools. How many classes are they running? How long are these guys waiting in the pool until getting a class date? And why the heck are they supposedly pulling people out of order from the pilot pool, and going based upon your total times on airlineapps (that they are supposed updated while they wait in the pool) after the fact that they've already interviewed??!!

An excerpt from a friends letter, I'm an Eagle guy so I'm having time explaining why/if they are really using this process to pull pilots from the pool for a class, NEVER heard of it being done this way. Almosts defeats the purpose of performing above average on the interview.

"Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that your interview was successful. You will be placed in our pilot pool for a period of six months with a conditional offer of employment as we wait for the drug screening results, fingerprint results and background check. If offered a class date, the conditional offer will be based on your successful completion of flight training. Continue to build your time and experience and update your application on Airline Applications as we select the most suitable applicant for classes from this pool.

The impact of HR 5900, and how it will effect Express Jet Airlines and all 121 airline hiring is still being determined. We do, however, know with certainty that the more qualified you are, the better your chances of being placed in a class in a timely manner."

Are trying to insinuate that Eagle used this process 'before my time?'

There's a ton of hiring happening at xjet right now. There were typically two classes of 16, but lately the classes have been 32. Last month had two new-hire classes, and a recall class. Busy training center, lack of instructors, etc... maybe they're just getting a little backed up? I don't remember getting a "pilot pool" e-mail...

At any rate, I'll see if I can ask around.

I know nothing of a pool here. What that sounds like is they are not offering class dates til your background check clears.

In any case, classes are on the schedule through March for 160 new hires. (This began in January.) They delayed one class in February due to the lack of available sim time. We are also in the process of doing 64 upgrades in the next month.

Class dates for April and beyond have yet to be determined, last I heard, but will they will run one class of 32 and one class of 16 each month.

Our attrition is picking up as well. On the ERJ side in Jan, we lost 20 and on the CRJ side we lost 6. This is expected to rise each month through summer.

Here is what I was told in recurrent in Dec. Minimum 32 new hires a month for all of 2012. They have been adding an extra class every now and then. The school house is packed. Good luck.
