Whats everyones thoughts on new checklists for CRJ side? Was a little painful having not flown much due to vacation and doing a CDO. Also Captains first go at it too. But overall I think after a 4 day I'll have it down. Did notice however the Radar comes off on after landing flow but couldn't find where on any of checks does it get turned on. I talked to a Check Airmen and he said its apparently our option to have it on at all. Just out of habit after checking controls my hand goes to it but hopefully nobody takes off and forgets it when they need it. Just found it odd.

Radar goes on when deemed required. The checklist is the reminder to turn it off if you turned it on. You can still turn it on after start if you prefer.

Flew 3 days so far with it, it's not as daunting as it seemed in the ecampus. My biggest issue is getting rid of my old habits such as reaching for lights. The climb check thing is a bit awkward. What also didn't help was the first day flying with a guy who thinks he already knows the new system and starts making up his own interpretations of things. The second guy I flew with did a lot better with working with me on making sure we are doing everything the right way. Just to learn the system we did everything the way the training department would like to see it in the sim and by the end of our trip, I think we both were pretty comfortable with the direction our call outs and flows were headed. I'm not quite seeing the whole picture yet but I'll get used to it shortly. We both asked questions when we weren't sure and if we tried to cut corners, we went back and started from the beginning. There's less stuff to do while we're taxiing and I like that.

I like it. There are a few things that could have been done better in my opinion but I'm sure everyone feels that way. eg. The Arrival check could have just been called the Approach Check, eliminating the need to refer to a briefing as an "arrival briefing".
That just sounds a little off but hey, just nitpicking. I promise I got used to every thing by the end of a 4 day, but I'll be damned if I could remember to say "Set Thrust".

The ERJ side is also implementing it. The CRJ side was done first.
Harmonization is a requirement of the SOC from the merger.
The verbiage and checklist flows try to mirror the best of both sides.
Basically, all the same stuff is in the new checklist, things are just moved around to better spots, some things were eliminated.
The CRJ checklist came from the Canadair manuals. It really wasn't "airline operation" specific. More like engineer specific. There was too much chatter back and forth at more critical times. I.e taxi out, line up and wait and the decent. That really now is just the PM verifying the completed items. Much better if you ask me.
