I got lucky during training and had my own room. While it's not an ideal situation, having a roommate wasn't going to make or break my choice of ExpressJet. The contract is better than most regionals on the ERJ side.

There are no longer any strictly CRJ or ERJ classes. Starting 8/19 its all one class and you bid for whatever openings they have. As I understand it, preference is being give to the ERJ, with possibly some CRJ vacancies in each class. Just what I've been told, not sure if its a fact or not.

They do give out single rooms if there's a female in the class (guys and gals don't share rooms). Roommate assignments are first come first serve, so checking in late improves your chances.
There is also a study lounge at the hotel, so that's a good place to do group study and practice flows, etc.

With my 23 Sep class date established, I now have to address some of the more mundane aspects of spending 2+ months on the road. Hoping some of the recent XJT trainees (or those otherwise familiar w/ the process) can help me out here.....
- I'm assuming I'll need a car while I'm there, so I plan to drive. Has anyone gone w/o a car and had it work, and/or had a car and regretted the drive?
- Can't say I'm too jazzed about sharing a hotel room. Are there other options (crash pads w/ private bedrooms, say)? I haven't done any real looking yet, but I'm assuming 2+ months in a hotel would be prohibitively expensive out-of-pocket....
- What's the dress for class? Is it in uniform, or...?
- Anything to do ahead of time to prepare?
- Best guesses on class mixture CRJ/ERJ? I want ERJ for basing purposes; I'm old enough to expect to be senior in the class
- I assume there's some sort of info packet coming my way, that may or may not address all of these questions. How far out should I expect it?
Thanks for these or any other tidbits of advice!

SkyWest "Mainline" newhires are given the option to spend $700 and get their own room. Why aren't XJT newhires given that option? Or better question, why has ASA never had newhires share a room, but now that we bought XJT we have to? I thought everything in their contract is better? Sounds like we took a concession before we even had a vote. Grown adults sharing a room? How embarrasing. Hello newhires... if they care that little about you now, wait until you get on the line... Eagle and Republic are still offering signing bonuses...we're shacking people up and extorting them for $700?

To the front desk person on day 2: "Hi, my roommate snores and I can't get any sleep. Is there any way I can get my own room?"
Usually works.
Eagle only did double occupancy for the first week of indoc, solo after that for ground and sim.
