New ExpressJet Interview Process
#11
When i interviewed about a year ago it made a difference if you interviewed in IAH or ATL.
Interview shouldn't be that difficult. We had a different way back then, but ATP style questions sounds easier. Just keep calm and have a good sleep. Look over at Jepp charts and it would help and be your self. The more you stress the more difficult it will be.

Guys, please, stop. Really, why does every thread end up going down this road?
I have my reasons for going to interview with XJET, none of them I fell the need to justify with anybody. But please be assured, I have done my research, and am well aware of the current situation there.
That being said, I have heard they have very recently changed their interview profile and I would really like some up-to-date info so I can go in as prepared as possible, and not look like an idiot for not being prepared.
Thanks.

If XJT has a base where you live just say that.
Otherwise, why not listen to people who work there when they say that XJT is probably not in your best interest?
No one is looking for you to "justify" why you are choosing XJT. Maybe they are trying to help you.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm very curious as to what it is that guys desire and what their expectations are.
I know when I started at the regionals growth was insane and most companies upgrades were at 3.5 years. So there wasn't really much thought put into where you go. Everyone was hiring. Times are much different now. If I were in the same position now I would have definitely chose a different career.
Why Xjt? A dying regional. Old-school culture. Honestly L-ASA has some of the most boring places to fly to. Huge fleet of unwanted airplanes. 4-5 years at least on reserve on the CRJ ATL. A gigantic seniority list. What is it that you know that I don't. Over 7 years in the right seat with no upgrade in sight makes me wonder sometimes.
Just seems like there are so many better choices. Good luck. I think.....

Please, just shut up.
/\This guy, has NO clue what he's talking about. Boring places? ***? I would really like you to elaborate. Who the hell chooses a regional based on "exciting places!"?
ATL CRJ is not 4-5 years on reserve. Seriously, why does this forum not ban people who pull complete and utter BS out of the rears and post it on here?

On the L-ASA side, yes, the CRJ 200 sucks. Small boring towns within 700 miles of a base. 5+ legs a day typical. Unbearable heat in summer, no heat in winter. You'll want to kill yourself after the third straight AEX overnight in a LaQuinta at an interstate exit with nothing but a gas station, a BBQ, and a cracker barrel for entertainment.
The 700/900 is a lot better. Long flights, less legs, medium-large cities, international flying. Much better plane to operate too.
ATL is currently running ~3+ years on reserve for 700/900 FOs and ~12 years for CAs. The ATL 200 is a little less, but they begin steadily going away after this year, so that's going to go up as people hang on to the end of the rope to stay in base. Upgrade in the most junior base is still 8+ years. Expect that to go up if CRJ 200s retire and no replacement aircraft come. It's still debatable is CA attrition will prevent downgrades to FO. Most of the people leaving are junior.

The CRJ side is hiring and building a pool for next spring. CRJ bases are ATL (200, 700/900), DTW (700), DFW (200), IAD (200). It's a crap shoot what base you may get out of newhire training, and the ASA side doesn't run base bids very often. We have a decent contract relative to most other regionals, but these days, that isn't worth much if they're parking all of our airplanes to punish us for it. If we don't get this failed merger completed in the next year or so, this company will not exist by 2021. Half our current airplanes are gone by 2019 (5 years from now). Upgrade is 8 years and rising.

Oh wise L-XJT ERJ FO, please enlighten us more with your extensive knowledge of the ASA CRJ side you don't fly for...

As for those exciting NYC overnights, then being on the tarmac for 2 hours waiting for your wheels up... you can have that. Each person has their own preferences. Just like our bidding system.

To each their own. If I have to do over a 2 hour leg, I almost want to shoot myself. Doing 11 minute flights is up my corner. The 200 is slowly turning into the ATR group again. Just have a couple more debbie downers to get rid of.
