Coupled with the 200% increase in attrition since last month, its why TV had to mention it in his update today. He's trying to plug some holes by saying something but it's all empty right now.

DirkDiggler 05-03-2017 11:26 AM

I sent him a message saying actions speak louder than words. Simple as that really.

Punkpilot48 05-03-2017 12:52 PM

My understanding is we had classes... no one was in them. Except for one return to work.

CaptainNameless 05-03-2017 02:35 PM

One reason to choose XJT?

Totally hilarious the UAL-Express exec running around L-XJT bases (2 visits to IAH now) trying to figure out why the CPP isn't keeping the RJ-slaves on the plantation...

The hilarious part is, I think they really thought it was a GREAT idea. How could it possibly not work? You get a 50% chance at a chance to get a job at UA in... when exactly? Years and years and years from now... maybe.

Failure pile in a sadness bowl.

Training is still a good and pleasant experience. There. 1 reason.

CaptainNameless 05-03-2017 03:05 PM

If they want to secure XJT staffing...

Announce a lottery for your seniority number at UA. Drawing will be held December 31, 2018. All pilots from new-hire to old age are eligible. Will go to United in order drawn. On second thought, I doubt even that would work.

AMNegron 05-03-2017 03:07 PM

Leadership is alarmed at the amount of pilots side-stepping to other regionals. Don't know why they are alarmed...this is their mess and it is FUBAR. Wouldn't be surprised if they announced some kind of retention package to slow the retention through the summer.

Maybe they'll announce a PBS system for appointments at the unemployment office...

In speaking with the folks I know at XJT, if that is management's plan they better come very high with whatever package they generate.

At the end of the day, it is being told to me, XJT is a dead-end and anyone remaining on the ship will end up drowning as it continues to take on water.

There is more than just a financial reason why pilots are escaping quickly.

Even a retention package won't keep us from leaving. This place is done. Management is a den of liars and thieves, our mainline "partner" cares more about cost than having a decent product, and we're owned by a company that has been very hostile to us from day one. Nearly every FO I've flown with in the past 6 months has had some sort of exit strategy, many opting to jump to other regionals. I say good for them. The Atlanta brain trust has sailed the Titanic right into the iceberg, at the command of our Mormon overlords from SkyWest. Congrats, managrment- you made the bed, but that doesn't mean any of us have to sleep in it with you. Here's to hoping this is the month I get to tender my own 2 week notice, CPP be damned.

Banshee365 05-04-2017 05:56 PM

So, you're saying it was a good idea to resign a couple years ago from L-ASA?

Student01 05-04-2017 06:10 PM

Is anybody going from ExpressJet to United on the CPP? No one talks of any movement?

If XJT captains are going to United then XJT F/Os should be upgrading to captain. This should be a fairly smooth movement...I realize it's not a flow.
It should be helping XJT. They should be around longer.

Please educate me?

AboveMins 05-04-2017 07:48 PM

I think we've had close to 70 go over this year.

FO's would be upgrading to captain with the movement if more and more airplanes weren't consistently leaving the fleet.

It's helping somewhat but realize there's still planes leaving and a lot of FOs leaving. Can't upgrade with no new hire FOs to backfill.

The amount of time needed for this program to touch current FOs is longer than most FOs are willing to wait.

About thirty aircraft still scheduled to leave by the end of the year. And all of them by the end of next year.

And the wonderfully honest folks in Atlanta will say anything to make you believe otherwise. If you have a Plan B, pull the trigger now. No sense in staying here to watch the Hartsfield Center Parkway brain trust rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.

The people in there are the most dishonest, deceptive, power-hungry people in the business. They know their days are numbered at ExpressJet and are stepping on as many heads as it takes to land a job at real airlines before the music stops. Do not trust a word they say.

I like that, a word smith ;)

I was talking to my friends at XJT. I was really hoping there was gonna be some good news for my buddies still there.

How underwhelming......

Haha... thanks. I guess no news is good news around here. I'm fairly certain SkyWest, Inc. will never allow a new airframe on XJT property, so we can rule out that sort of announcement right off the bat. I'm thinking that once the summer rush is over, a closure of either ORD or EWR (if not both!) will be forthcoming. No sense in accelerating the exodus while we have passengers to move around for our "partner".

I thought we were giving all our lavs to CommutAir.... If this is true then it's truly fantastic news!

Real quiet over here, what's the word? Anymore "good" news? Heard our replacements aren't getting as many planes as they had originally planned.

I think UAL is just beginning to realize, their regionals are being rapidly drained of pilots. DAL insourced a lot of the issue with the 717s. AA has direct flow+$$ newhire bonus, filling up classes. So far, crickets from Willis Tower. 200 XJT pilots gone in last few months. They all flew United passengers. So that would seem a problem at some point.

Options:

1 Insource. Probably 90-100 seat aircraft to fill in for RJ staffing losses. (the DAL solution).

2 Buyout the regionals, (AA solution). Flow equivalent to Envoy.

3 Combination of options 1+2

4 Do nothing. Continue to hemorrhage pilots to other airlines. (Current solution).
