Are those old airplanes are Stage 3?
Maybe you've noticed that you don't see old school 737's (100s & 200s) and you don't see anymore 727s either.
Stage 2 (noise compliant) airplanes are no longer legal to fly in the US. Were the FedEx 727s (with the hush kit engine mods) Stage 3?
I thought that after 9/11 FedEx traded United hush kits for DC-10s? We've flown those old airplanes a long time.

Actually it was a great airplane to fly, no GPS (headings direct) had only Alt hold no level off on AP. A lot of cruise clearances and Circling app.
Life is much easier now in the 767, but do plan on J/s when I go back out there soon on the old 737.

Had a mngmnt type on the airplane recently- confirmed the rumor of the 73. The 75's are already super old and maintenance intensive. There was talk of the Airbus also, including the A330. But I thought the idea was to go all Boeing 2 engine for ease of fleet commonality and maintenance (my inference only)? The 76 continues to not be able to carry what the MD fleet can- thus It was said the MD will be not be going anywhere soon.
