I am. And that was a big choice in my decision not to go to the bus.
Some categories have way more nights than others. A few years ago DCA bus had zero redeyes. Pretty sure that's still the case.
Unless you're a reserve on group 2 you can pretty easily trade out of nights. At least that's what all my friends say.

Heck, 5:30 is late! That's like a 7 AM departure. 
Last week I left LA on a "daytime" trip with a 3:45 pickup. But when we taxied out there was Southwest, United, Delta and American all going out as well. At least I only had one leg and I was done...

There is a difference between a redeye that the legacies fly, and what FedEx flies with a 3 hour nap in between. My friend who got hired around the same time as me at Delta flight 767, has had more redeye night flying than I have. She hates it, I love it, and I think the difference is that nap in between.
