Maybe we should just let it go for now? If it's really keeping you awake at night there's probably a local new reporter that has all of the details.

I understand the desire for privacy, but I think The Company has an obligation to inform other employees if there is a lingering threat. I drive to work on I-240 -- is there something in particular I should be more aware of? My son works at the hub, and his momma would feel a lot better if we had more information. There are plenty of questions that could be answered while still respecting the privacy of the pilot who was shot.

An ALPA rep has stated, with knowledge of the event, there is no relation or impact to our commutes to work. Carry on as before.

That's near the old Pinnacle HQs. Pretty shady area. Nothing like Memphis's finest knocking on your hotel room door at 3am to offer "services."

Anyway, hope the guy recovers n get well soon.

Probably said good things about the TA, too.

Sorry if I'm a bit skeptical of "an ALPA Rep." A void of information is an invitation for speculation and.misinformation. "Shut up and color" doesn't quite cut it.

Actually, he didn't. He was one of the most, if not the most, vocal against it. Not that that has anything to do with this.

Few things: don't shoot the messenger. And, I have no dog in this fight.

However, it puzzles me that when a decent guy, with no ill will or intent, states that the incident has no relation to FedEx or us- that it invites speculation and/or misinformation.

Why can't we take it at face value and trust the word of a fellow pilot and hard working volunteer? It didn't cause me to speculate or give misinformation. I took his words and moved on.

For the record, it was Don Ray. He doesn't hide from anything including this issue.

The family asked for privacy. Giving out information can hurt the police investigation. So, Don just said it didn't have anything to do with FedEx. I believe him.

If you really need more information on someone getting shot in Memphis to protect yourself and family, may I suggest you pull your head out of your @$$...

Nothing personal against any of the reps, but "it didn't have anything to do with FedEx" leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Also, nothing against you, messenger or otherwise, as I was not accusing you of speculation or misinformation, but a vacuum of information tends to get filled, and usually with less than perfect information.

Even the statement, "Giving out information can hurt the police investigation" is suspect. Telling us where the driver was coming from, going to, where he was shot, and whether it was random, road rage, or some other activity is not going to divulge anything the shooter doesn't already know. If the statement is true, it raises more questions.

Don't condemn me for being concerned.

I'm not condemning you Tony. I whole-heartedly agree that initially it's in all our interest what happened, if it indeed had anything to do with us as FedEx pilots (he was followed and bumped after being sighted in uniform, for example).

Once I am informed it did not, then I fall back to all of the things I (and I assume we) take precautions for- as we all live, operate and/or work in the same 2nd most dangerous city in the US.
