Even if you were awarded a wide body, a FDA (CGN or in the past HKG) assignment waives that two year seat lock. So if during the next system bid you were senior enough to be awarded CGN (the last two bids didn’t fill to max staffing so any seniority could have held CGN), you could go. The 767 fleet is a transition course which is much shorter than if you had any other wide body which would require a full ITU. 757 would just be a base transfer. Hope that helps.
Once awarded CGN from a system bid, you’d get there quickest from MEM 75. Any other aircraft would require you to bid for training and there’s really not a great way to guess timeframes on when people bid for training. Thanks again for the info, hopefully I'll be there soon! |

On the application it asks if you’d be interested in a FDA, I think it’d be a great experience when the kids are out of the house, but in the near term it would not work based on several factors for us. If I answer yes to the FDA question does that mean I have now “volunteered” for an overseas assignment as a new hire?

KPG3 You are wrong about waiting to bid FDA until the kids are our of the house. I was an expat pilot for 22 years and I do not know of one child who did not love the experience and most were disappointed when their time overseas was up. Kids minds are sponges to be filled and they learned the language much faster than the parents. My girls are fluent in Japanese and still remember a lot of their Arabic. I took them on layovers and they have been all over Europe, skied in Switzerland, visited the Taj Mahal , the Agra Red Fort, camped n the Saudi desert where we met Bedouins and they rode and drank camel milk from the udder, and many more experiences than I can mention here. So if you reluctant to bid a FDA because of the kids you are making big mistake.
Thank you 3pointlanding for the perspective. The context of my question was more on the application, and if you check yes to FDA could you get “forced” into that position as a new hire, or if you check No are you limiting your chances of an interview. I ended up putting No to FDA on the app, and recently got called for an interview! I am wrapping up a 20+ military career and we have lived and traveled everywhere, and loved it! I agree with your sentiment. |

I know this has been asked before but I've seen some conflicting info. What's the latest and greatest for interview prep? I know the interview has changed quite a bit as of late.

Then the In-person (SBI and Panel Interview) on Day 2 can be covered by ECIC (Emerald Coast) or any number of other Interview prep companies mentioned previously. I'm sure that folks will chime in with their favorite, which is probably just whichever one they used. Go to the "FedEx Hiring 2022" thread and start reading from page 1. |
