So if during the next system bid you were senior enough to be awarded CGN (the last two bids didn’t fill to max staffing so any seniority could have held CGN), you could go. The 767 fleet is a transition course which is much shorter than if you had any other wide body which would require a full ITU. 757 would just be a base transfer. Hope that helps.

Once awarded CGN from a system bid, you’d get there quickest from MEM 75. Any other aircraft would require you to bid for training and there’s really not a great way to guess timeframes on when people bid for training.

Really helpful info, now to just get my resume to a point to where I'm a competitive applicant. Easy, right?

Thanks again for the info, hopefully I'll be there soon!

If I answer yes to the FDA question does that mean I have now “volunteered” for an overseas assignment as a new hire?

KPG3 You are wrong about waiting to bid FDA until the kids are our of the house. I was an expat pilot for 22 years and I do not know of one child who did not love the experience and most were disappointed when their time overseas was up. Kids minds are sponges to be filled and they learned the language much faster than the parents. My girls are fluent in Japanese and still remember a lot of their Arabic. I took them on layovers and they have been all over Europe, skied in Switzerland, visited the Taj Mahal , the Agra Red Fort, camped n the Saudi desert where we met Bedouins and they rode and drank camel milk from the udder, and many more experiences than I can mention here. So if you reluctant to bid a FDA because of the kids you are making big mistake.

Thank you 3pointlanding for the perspective. The context of my question was more on the application, and if you check yes to FDA could you get “forced” into that position as a new hire, or if you check No are you limiting your chances of an interview. I ended up putting No to FDA on the app, and recently got called for an interview!

I am wrapping up a 20+ military career and we have lived and traveled everywhere, and loved it! I agree with your sentiment.

No. You cannot be forced into an FDA. I checked no on my app. I don't think it had any bearing whatsoever on the timing of my interview/class date. In fact, when they called to offer me my class, they did offer me a CGN slot. I declined and still got the same class.

Not since they made everyone attend Indoc on day one, I don't recall ever seeing MD going first.

I know this has been asked before but I've seen some conflicting info. What's the latest and greatest for interview prep? I know the interview has changed quite a bit as of late.

"Lots of changes. All good. I’ll put out a standalone hiring update after we’ve successfully implemented some of the programming changes that will be required for the below and some other changes. We’re spending a lot of time to be careful we continue to get the best pilots as the industry and hiring landscape continues to rapidly change. There is no shortage of pilots in our application system or at events we attend who have made it clear that FedEx is their first choice. Our very hard-working Pilot Recruitment Team will have a booth at the Mid-South Airshow on June 18th and 19th. We’ll continue hiring at a rate of approximately 70 per month for the foreseeable future.
  1. Our interview process is now a single day event. We’ve eliminated the JKT test and now accomplish testing remotely. The result has been a much smoother turnaround for applicants and a better process for our hiring team.
  2. A college degree will soon be preferred, not required. There are many exceptionally qualified pilots out there who we would like to consider. Consideration of the breadth of experience and training will be major considerations for those applicants. This is not ready for implementation until our software is updated to accept applications from those without a four-year degree. We will announce it to our pilots when it becomes official.
  3. Endorsements will move to a time-based processing system. The intent is to move towards a process that processes oldest endorsements first. We have over 2400 pilot endorsements in our system. We want to honor them, but the math doesn’t make it a problem that’s easy to address when we’re hiring 70 pilots per month.
  4. We are rapidly approaching our 100th Legacy new hire pilot in three years."
Whatever you feel is necessary to prepare for the Cognitive Test and Psych Test. (Some say that RST (Ready Set Takeoff) is no longer necessary and point you in the direction of general Cog Prep online content.)

Then the In-person (SBI and Panel Interview) on Day 2 can be covered by ECIC (Emerald Coast) or any number of other Interview prep companies mentioned previously. I'm sure that folks will chime in with their favorite, which is probably just whichever one they used.
