Default Surrendering Passport

Anyone know what happens to one's trips when required to "surrender" passport in order to get a China VISA? Are you removed from the trip without pay (make-up) or do you go into substitution? Thanks.

Not to jump in on this but....
Yes, Really. I have almost been exclusively international for 25 years and only had one passport. Why would you want to keep up with two. Best advice, bid Reserve and then turn it in right before you start your R block. Tell scheduling you don't have a passport because you needed a new one. If you are a commuter, make sure you bid R 24. Works like a charm every time. Enjoy most of your month off.

Yep. Why would I have more than one?

Thanks for the input. Too late for reserve. Passport’s good, but no China VISA. Already have a trip at the end of the month. I’ve been trying to get my China VISA renewed since April. Chinese consulate wasn’t accepting applications for my State. Now they are. I need to get ‘er done now before they decide to shut things down again (not that I want to go to China, but it sure limits my bid). I’m just curious what happens to that trip? I will obviously be removed from the trip, but I’m wondering if it’s with or without pay. Never been in this situation before and the contract isn’t too clear. It addresses no VISAs but not the passport issue. Thanks for the replies.

Call your Fleet Manager or Fleet Captain in the morning. It has been recommended to get a second passport though, as you will still be able to fly everywhere else while the one is out for China or India visas. Check with the passport office to see how long that takes. This is a reminder that I need to do that too.

The rub is: You have to surrender your primary passport while you get a second one issued.

Says it right on our website, removed without pay and in contract.

Bidding reserve and submitting it for visas works great. Not my fault that outside sources can't get my visas fast enough and therefore I will not penalize myself to lose pay. Don't hate the player, hate the game...

AND, what appdude said....

Thanks. Found it. It's much more complex than you know. China has REFUSED to accept applications for VISA since April........Fleet Captains have been ZERO help with little understanding.

If we SHOULD have two passports, then that needs to be a requirement. Thanks.

Houston Chinese Consulate ordered to close

I think y'all can forget about getting any China visas renewed anytime soon.
