The worst kept secret in the world is a hotel where pilots stay. There are very few things more conspicuous than a bunch of Fedex bubbas checking in and out of our layover hotels all day and all night.

Latest news in Guangzhou is the breakfast buffet at the Crowne Plaza is gone. Shut down by the Chinese CDC. You can only order breakfast to your room.

FYI... The country rules and CIQ tab on pfc have been updated regularly. Click on that orange tab and go to the specific country. The Sydney update about room isolation requirement was there on July 4th. I only know that date because I knew it was there before monthly bidding so I just checked my text thread as it was discussed with friends when it happened. Took another layover off of our list where we could go outside. Looks like they are up to date with the other Sydney procedures as well. Sorry you didn’t see it beforehand.

Yeah that was my bad. I was on vacation in July and only logged on to submit my bid.

Wait, did I say I was on vacation? SSI!

I also would like to see something where we could look up hotel information and the ability for us to add other information like attractions, things to do, places to eat at each location. My previous airline MEC has an app developed just for this purpose and many pilots seemed to use it. It had a lot of good information added by users.

We have it on our ALPA site under ‘Layover Gouge’.

Yes, if you're standing near the hotel you can see crew members coming and going from a hotel. But someone who is trying to plan to do something harmful may not know where we stay and may be using these boards for information.

You're like the dude/duddette in the squadron who says, "It isn't classified" not understanding that a gathering of non-classified information can still become a treasure trove for the enemy.

Why make it easier for them? Trust me, there are plenty of folks world-wide who would love to bring harm to a bunch of Americans staying at a foreign hotel.

Wow. You’re so cool and cloak and daggery. Do you really think “the enemy” needs an Internet forum to plot his dastardly deeds? Or maybe he could simply stand outside every single airport we fly in and out of multiple times every day and follow the cabs we get into to the hotels we stay at every single day? You do realize we wear uniforms when we fly? And have Fedex IDs that hang from lanyards with all kinds of identifying info on them. And half our guys have luggage with Fedex identification on them? And then on our layovers, you realize there is a reason you can pick out a fellow crew member from 100 yards away. Especially when they’re wearing one of our nice company jackets.
Now...I’m not an Australian terrorist. But if I were, and I was really serious about plotting mayhem against Fedex pilots, I’d probably start with looking for those giant Fedex logos on those giant airplanes that park right next to that busy road by the busiest airport in Australia. Then I would watch those pilots get into the same limos at the same times every single day and I’d track them to the same hotel they’ve been going to for years. It would take less then a day. We aren’t the Mossad. And nothing we do is secret. I hope your self protection plans don’t depend on bad guys being too stupid to track you in their own country.
You remind me of the squadron dude/dudette who thinks that wearing a reflective belt and carrying a flashlight in a combat zone will keep everyone from getting hurt while deployed. We all knew them. I guess now we’d call them Karen’s.

Wow, good thing we’re not as predictable as y’all with your “World on Time,” guess we have one benefit of delays. Never knew it would be in my favor. All kidding aside - Regardless of where you are or how you think, it’s always good to have your head on a swivel. To think in the U.S. now more than ever. I lucked out couple of months ago researching the lockdowns and then bid Aussie Land. Fun then, not so much now. It does bite a bit I’m sure.

I get that people don't like Facebook but there is no excuse to not be a part of Jetflyers. Yes, most of the time it's the same dozen guys barking at each other, but when negotiations start, the nuggets of info that come from there will be invaluable. You can make a FB acct and do nothing but join JF, I'm not sure what the pushback is. That's what I've done, in fact, I think I used one of my burner emails to do it.

Get a burner email, join FB, find another Fedex dude to suggest you as a member, sift through the info and become enlightened!

UPDATE: The layovers in OAK, LAX,RNO,EWR,MIA,JFK,ATL, PDX, MSP, etc.,..........all suck because of riots, Kung Flu, and other assorted nonsense........it's harsher overseas, I agree, but let's face it, the days of the Manhattan Club and Four Floors of W----s is long gone for now. Uber Eats and hotel food, and chicken salad/sandwich on domestic catering is what it all is. And if one more person tells me "we're all in this together".........
