2.) Most of your career is on WB pay rates so even working a min schedule you will make substantially more than your pax friend who works his min schedule.

3. We have a lot of trips that start or end or both with a paid ticket to wherever the trip starts or from where it ends to your house. For commuters this is gold compared to pax airlines. A lot of the time you can leave a day later than the trip is built to go to wherever or you can get home a day or more earlier than it is built on paper. You are still paid the full value of hoe the trip is built on paper. So your getting paid to be home for 1-3 days on those trips.

4. We have a 9% DC retirement and a pension. This is substantially more than what any pax haulers offer.

5. If you work extra a FedEx you will make much more than your pax brother on NB pay. Once again NB vs WB pay.

6. Our vacation rules and pay are tops in the industry and you can use it to get a LOT of time off or make a LOT of money.

7. If you are on a fleet with a open time you can make your schedule whatever you want it and if you so desire make crazy money.

8. If you live in base it makes either job easier and allows you to make extra money by not be gone much more.
This is the best summary I have seen posted.

# 8 is a spot on important item for all pilots. Living in base makes QOL much better. You can also pick up extra flights at the drop of a hat, with less stress on the family.

Favorite of a friend is a picking up a mid morning trip and turn in the afternoon. Wife works. Kids in school (old enough to take care of themselves). Eat breakfast with them. Be home in time for supper. Family did not even have time to miss him.

Anyway, my opinion is that I’m not here to convince anyone to do anything. I turned UAL down to come here, despite being from Denver. I’m extremely glad I made that decision. If this is such a tough decision for someone to make, just stay where you’re at. Plenty of other folks that are very motivated to be here, and that’s who I want to work with.
So you made over $300k as a 3rd year FO, implying an AVERAGE bid period CH of roughly 120 hours 🤔

Definitely doable. He was not the only one last year.

And your 120CH math might be true, but don't assume it was all straight time. The crazy CH trips were typically revisions with first extra 12 @ 150%, then rolling @ 200% for...weeks. It got nuts in the Pacific.

Yep. If you’re a FDX pilot, I will send you my W-2. Just send me your employee #.

Not sure what fleet you are on but the MD has been extension city for the past 9 months at least. If you are willing to extend they will send you anywhere, as we are so short, especially in the FO seat.

Yep. And honestly, I’m pretty middle of the pack for WB FO earners this year. Heck, I didn’t even hardly work at all Oct-Dec.

Again, voluntary extra work. Sell it however you want, but you are working extra. At $185/hr plus the $10/hr international override, you need 1500+ CH to make over $300k. So again, say it all you want that you don't work extra if that helps you sleep at night, but those of us here know the truth.

I am curious your mentality on this issue. Say I have built up my M/U bank over the last few years. Now that I make a higher rate and decided to tap into it, am I flying extra? Seems to me I am making the company pay me at a higher rate although it appears I am “working extra.”
