One of the worst things about the latest contract... The old passover pay system ensured the company trained in seniority order (for the most part).

The old system stunk. Forced you to train in seniority order not when you wanted based on seniority. New system is much better. It actually allows you to use your seniority to decide. That's what seniority is for. I agree that Passover pay was a give and would like to see it back. Im guessing it is gone for good. Slot denial payment is what is left.

I agree with you on this one. The one thing that worries me is it seems we are easily distracted as a pilot group. We send out openers and ask for "focused" and then want to chase every squirrel that runs up the tree (Oh look squirrel) after the opener is already out. Isn't the goal to be focused and address retirement? Then a few already specified quality of life issues. Now we are running around talking about everything under the sun.

Seniority doesn’t mean squat now. I’m being held in my seat due to “staffing needs while Junior pilots (not new hires) are A) going to training in my new seat WHILE B) junior pilots in my current seat are allowed to train to their awards. The company is getting to pick and choose from WAY too much here.

Are you talking about the guys getting junior activation pay and the guys getting slot denial payments? Thats what numerous are on in the scenario you talk about.
The old system didn’t even allow a Jr. pilot to bid an earlier training slot. If you were bottom 20% then you trained at the bottom 20%. Under new system many pilots bid to train to a higher paying seat well before the seniority they held on the vacancy bid. So once again the new system is much better. Passover pay is a separate issue in which I said I agree.
People mixing two separate issues. Lets focus…..
