The old system didn’t even allow a Jr. pilot to bid an earlier training slot. If you were bottom 20% then you trained at the bottom 20%. Under new system many pilots bid to train to a higher paying seat well before the seniority they held on the vacancy bid. So once again the new system is much better. Passover pay is a separate issue in which I said I agree.

People mixing two separate issues. Lets focus…..
You weren’t even here under the old system. You have no clue what you’re talking about…. AGAIN

Like I said I have been around this place a long time even before being a pilot here. Family (direct and extended) and friends that have been retired for years or are about to retire. Seen this place for years and get to hear all about the “history”. I also have the ability to read the old CBA’s. They are on the ALPA web page. Just have to read and ask questions of family to get the answers. Not hard for those wanting to learn instead of just spewing bs and false news. I know thats whats cool about the internet but facts are facts.

I have done 5 training cycles under the old system and 1 under the new system. The old system had its faults (mostly A-holes that denied trades) but despite its warts, it was better. So please tell me where I am spewing BS and false news, Mr Clueless?

I am one of the guys watching my seniority be abrogated; not getting SDP and waiting a year+ to get trained all while new hires are trained and activated in my awarded base. It sucks. Nothing to be done about it. And I won’t ***** about the old system being better because I wasn’t here.

That being said…You guys mind taking it elsewhere? I have nowork blocked and don’t wanna see his quotes for an argument.

The new system only benefits the company and the senior folks on the training letter IF the company lets them go to training when they want. Everybody else gave up some visibility when they would roughly go to training. Now you have zero idea when you might be allowed to go to training. Don’t plan any vacations or major life events while you sit on a 2 year training letter.

I’m with you! I’ve seen junior pilots activated in my seat all while no slots being offered (thus no slot denial pay). I could see the company being able to drag this on forever if they see reason for it, all with no consequence. SDP is a joke, I’m stuck on NB pay for no reason other than it was negotiated away.

You guys that are being screwed, remember this when the union tries to sell you their "new, improved" pancake plan.

The union dropped the ball in 2015 big time. Don't give them the chance to do it to our retirement.

Vote no on any pancake type plan, no matter what they call it.

Oh, and vote for Tony C. for block rep. He will fight for us against the Borg.

The new system sucks no matter how much you spin it. C2015 was a HUGE step backwards in quality of life for FedEx pilots. We need new pilots and those older pilots who get it, to stand up to guys like you and Kronan. You guys keep talking about how great the lipstick on the pig is. It's still a pig! And the regional pilots we've hired, thank God for them, THEY GET IT! When Regional FOs tell me they had it better at their airline except for pay, you know we have a lot of stuff in our contract that needs fixed. The problem is too many pilots accept these problems, or worse are military only and just don't know any different, and they'll use the high pay and no flight attendants/passengers as an excuse to have really bad language and quality of life problems in our contract. That's not smart!

It is time. Not tomorrow. Not next week. NOW IS THE TIME. WE'VE EARNED IT. WE FLEW DURING COVID. WE GOT SICK. OUR FAMILY MEMBERS GOT SICK. THREE PILOTS DIED. WE'VE EARNED IT!!!! THE TIME IS NOW TO UNITE AND TO STAND TOGETHER!!!!

You were spot on until your cry for unity immediately drove a stake between regional and military background pilots. I’ve flown with all types of new (since the last contract) pilots and ALL seem to get the fundamentals. No need to sow division in plea for unity.

Even if there were slots being offered, you still might not be getting SDP. You first have to bid to train in that slot, and even then, only a few who do bid will get the SDP.

The new system isn't any better than the old system, just different. In the old system, someone junior in the bid could go to training earlier if they found someone to trade dates with. Yeah, it didn't always work, but at least a junior pilot didn't become even more junior by being forced to go to training in the first slots because not enough pilots wanted to train in that slot. Now that junior pilot just got a few more months to a year at the bottom of that seat seniority list. In the old system, your training date most likely would move by a few months. In the new system, you don't know when the company is going to offer slots, or how many slots will be offered until you get the crew notification for that month. This is not how the union sold this new system. It is not what the crew force wanted. It is another example of the company keeping things the way they want while the MEC thinks they are getting what they want.
