If not, stop all incoming flights and hit them in the wallet. Makes my worst regional airline layover seem like the Grand Hyatt Penthouse Suite. Literally being detained on ones room is unacceptable, doubly so when almost everyone is now vaccinated.

I can't even imagine if someone tests positive on arrival. What happens then in terms of quarantine conditions and/or transport back home, and what kind of pay protection to go with it.

No wonder 777 CA is just 5 yrs
Every other airline flying to those destinations has the same restrictions as us. So not a company or union thing its a country thing.

I know that but if you can’t leave your room they will just have the hotel come hand you a note etc.

And your point is? You are either on duty, required to answer the phone or respond to messages from the company, or you aren't. If they want you available, they can add a duty period to your layover. If you choose to respond to notes or answer the phone while you are not on duty, that is your choice.

Pilots and FAs at other airlines who are going out in NRT or KIX just aren't abiding by the rules. Either they're choosing to ignore them or interpret what they've been told to their advantage or their company is content in letting them deal with whatever consequences arise from their actions. FedEx is run by lawyers and is much too concerned about brand damage or freight not moving to let their pilots make those mistakes.
But our pilots see crews from other airlines ignore the rules and assume incorrectly theirs are different

I bet it’s more likely that the FDX attorneys interpreting the rules strictly.

Unhook the telephone, don’t answer the door or acknowledge any notes. If they slip a note under the door, slip it back out. If all else fails, “no hablo Inglés.”

777s takeoff at dusk, it gets dark, the sun comes up, the sun goes down, and if you are lucky and it is not a really long flight, you land before it comes up again. So define “red eyes”.

The longer the flight, the better far as I’m concerned. Longer flight means more money and 4 pilots,..which means I’m usually sleeping 6+ hours. I land well rested actually. Albeit the body clock is messed up.
