Funny thing is… that always came from 30+ year people (in their 50s). Not many people hired in the last decade or so will see 30 years. Not me. Hopefully we have enough numbers now to fight this battle. I don’t want to wait another seven or so years. And if this is your first fight… please ask your fellow pilots and not your mentor how this works.

You give me a little bit of hope. Maybe I'd be more inclined to have a polite discussion about this with the guy sitting next to me if I didn't fear recourse for saying anything negative about this place, or end up losing the guy completely from a CRM standpoint I'm supposed to be flying a full week with. Oh, and there's also the I hope they don't rip me apart in the PEP for not thinking this is the greatest place ever too. Ah what a great feeling it is to be on probation here.

I'd assume they're referring to being fired six weeks prior to a class date over the PRIA request. As someone that came here from another major, my decision wasn't made until I hit send on my resignation two weeks prior to purple class. So yes, I think it's fair to say we fired someone for considering leaving.

The union just said that people that have been recently hired should consider leaving for carriers with better contracts. Someone does just that, and FDX uses it as an opportunity to make an example of what happens when you listen to what the union says. I’m shocked that anyone is surprised. I don’t think it’s going to change anything but the fact that people leaving will definitely not give extended notice that they are leaving, and do everything they can to ensure that the PRIA isn’t sent until they have given minimal notice. The person fired had to be on probation otherwise ALPA would be all over it. For the record, I think it’s BS that they were let go like that though.
