No kidding. What a dumb reply. I always love the "it was ****ty for me so it should be ****ty for you too" crowd.

not this at all, I think it great you can get hired directly to the right seat of a 777 - but the post sure came across as crying poor me

Or he is just worried about being stuck in the right seat of the 75 for years and looking for some advice.

I was stuck in his position, not knowing how long I'd be stuck, and to boot the company was placing new hires into my awarded seat. But I don't lord it over the guy.

The company needs to do better, but they won't. So we will have to force it through negotiations. Let's make this place better. Telling eachother you had it worse solves nothing.

you are correct! This new bid system is substantially better than the bump and flush of yesteryear. we probably are not allowed to say something is better from C2015 though. Imagine the irony of the mass groups getting bumped if not for having this new system bid process. The tears and anger would fill up the AOC 3 times over.

The problem with this is that it’s not objective, lie flat seats, deadhead fares, etc. Both sides can make a reasonable argument why one is better than the other. I know which one management prefers though because it makes sense to reduce training costs as much as possible.

not going to get any sympathy from anyone that sat as a 727FE for 6 years

Just keep in mind that while you were stuck at FedEx on the panel, many of us hired afterward were stuck at ACME regional airline before they came here and got stuck on the 757. Would you trade positions? ;)

I believe when you were stuck on the panel no one else was hiring. The market is completely different now, all the majors are hiring and he has choices. May be he was asking for advice to make a decision whether he should send out his resume to other majors or suck it (like you did) and stay on 75 at the new "One FedEx".

Wasn't looking for any sympathy, I am just trying to be realistic with my planning and curious when being held for the displaced would end. Like I said, I am happy to have some phantom seniority on the 75 vs the plug on the 76/77.

Have a great day!

Does FedEx have a different category for 757 and 767? If so, what is the reason to have them separate instead of combined like everyone else?

Yes. One is widebody, one is narrowbody, so different pay rates, seniority, markets, etc.

We're talking about a regressive bid here, at a company that has bids every few years. Apples to oranges.

When it comes to system bid frequency, length of seat locks and associated language, etc. I totally agree with you. Industry worst language. The way the actual bids are run I’m personally okay with, that’s just my opinion and if you disagree I am here to hear a solution. If the bid frequency/seat lock was addressed the rest would be far less painful in my opinion.

I appreciate your input. I hope you’ve told your reps that a TA without Sec 24 improvements isn’t supportable. I have.

Section 24 wasn't opened so it won't be any different on this TA. Vote it down, and we can open any section again.
