Guys— looks like we’re saved thanks to Honduras! The latest update from PD makes it seem like the one 75 going down there warrants 50% of the communication from our management. Don’t worry about the massive over staffing and lack of flying coming this fall. It’ll all be okay thanks to our new Latin American station 👍🏼
You can be 1 person overmanned and still be able to technically say you are overmanned. I think it is a quite skillful tactic they have used with great success to say we are overmanned with no amplifying data or parameters. However, those parameters and amplifying data may hurt their position/messaging if revealed to us. how long will be overstaffed for? What fleets would be overstaffed? What will the training cycles look like to move members to understaffed fleets? Will the SAM be affected? What are the parameters used with the USPS contract coming to a close to show overstaffed position? Looking forward to new NC/MEC crew, they seem to lie more on the let’s verify that before we trust what you say. |
The best way to describe the 3 submissions from management with "answers" to town hall questions is thin on details and lacking anything close to what could really be categorized as an answer to anything. Just another vague message from management during negotiations to try to give the pilot force some pause and create worry about the future. The bottom line is the manning details don't matter because the historically idiotic way this company conducts equipment bids denies them the ability to do anyting about it (i.e. furlough). They having manning issues in specific fleets, not across all of them. They might be able to furlough the bottom 30 pilots but then they get to a group in fleets they want manned at their current level. Their 700+ manning problem is impossible to address realisitcally since there's no way they are going to put a bid out to move junior bodies into the furlough zone when it's going to take 2 years to implement. Even they're not stupid enough to pull the trigger on that plan and spend the time, money and fleet disruption to solve a problem that might not be there by the time the solution is executed.
It's pretty much been this way since at least the early 20-teens. Junior pilots scattered across all fleets and embedded far enough into the list to make furlough extremely unlikely. I don't even know why we have 4.A.2.c in the CBA any more. It sure as hell doesn't help us since furlough isn't and hasn't been a realistic possibility for at least a decade. All it really does it give the company a way to justify reducing our pay to their benefit while we avoid something that can't happen anyway. |

yep…from cpo to the top. no firings though, just moved to a different department. I’m amazed they didn’t have the foresight to realize they were hiring too many pilots. the yes sir culture is the culprit here. |

Oh they knew, there are a few reasons why the company purposely overhired. It was a strategic move…
I wish I shared the mindset that the company was that good at being strategic, I don’t think they’re that good though. |

*The better you do the better we do so keep up the good fight. We're healing slowly and have some issues to resolve no doubt, but it has been getting better. Time will tell. |

A wise man once said never ascribe to malice that which can be more easily explained by incompetence.
