So, the company opened Section 1 to strengthen scope in our favor?

Why do you assume that they got what they wanted?

I think you need to read our scope rules again. Allowing FedEx pilots to fly international to international flights, or not, complies with the contract.

Don’t know my man. What about UPS’s Scope?

I have never been educated by our union on Scope. Was told many times, “it doesn’t really matter what our Scope says, the Company can do whatever it wants. No need to use negotiating capital on it”. Strangely, heard the same at the ALPA airline I flew for two lives ago.

Who says the RLA doesn’t apply to us anywhere we fly? If the company violates the contract while in China, can we grieve it? Of course we can. We can negotiate any contractual rights into the CBA as long as they don’t violate laws we fall into the jurisdiction thereof.

Let’s stop rationalizing our weak scope or make excuses of why we can’t negotiate something, please.

The union said. I am not rationalizing anything, I am asking.

Does UPS's scope language require only UPS pilots when flying international to international? I don't think so. They use a lot of contractors in Europe. Or am I wrong?

The Europe flying by contractors is an exclusion to their scope.

Have a look at their international subcontracting language. It’s strong and they’ve had success defending it. ALPA is lying to you when they say it’s not possible to defend extraterritorial flying.

You were lied to. Ask them about the IST-CGN-TLV grievance. What direction do you think we are moving in?
