I am aware of that provision in the CBA. How much cargo do you believe can be transported via interline, co-load, code-share, part charter....? Do you believe the company can utilize that provision to replace our international network? I believe it would be very inefficient and require the wet lease of the entire aircraft.

I'm new here but it is unbelievable to me that we have been under ALPA for multiple contracts and we have this weak of scope. No international protections and clauses like "economically necessary" for the domestic stuff that is supposedly protected. We must fix this now!! Pay rates are for the present, but scope is our future!

Also new here, and completely agree with this sentiment. I wouldn't have come here had I realized how weak it was.

This is laughable. I hope you don't end up at DL,UA or AA and realize they furlough or have economic swings. Did you do any research? And now, you just figure this out? So scope was your ONLY reason for coming to FedEx? I don't know how you are going to make it through a career of contract negotiations at any carrier.

Mr. Stan446, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Promise you I did plenty of research. I just didn’t realize our scope ONLY covers domestic provisions. Just because this place has never furloughed doesn’t mean they never will. And if mgmt starts running this the way DHL does with maximization of contractors outside the EU, that very well may be exactly what causes this place to furlough for the first time ever. Don’t be naive. We are far from invincible here. This is about far more than contract negotiations for many of us new guys.

Edit: Scope was not the reason to come to FedEx. You seem to have phrased that backwards. But without a strong section 1, and no job, or at best a career full of significant stagnation, the rest of the contract doesn’t matter. There’s a reason it’s the FIRST section.

⬆️ He’s right you know?

All you “FedEx has never furloughed before” sheep need to wake up and realize this isn’t the same company.

what if that section were weakened in the TA? Company obviously wanted something when they opened scope.

being under ALPA means nothing - there is no real help from ALPA - it’s all local. So blame us - our own local Union and crew force here. You know any experts at ALPA national? Any?
