The reason why I voted NO
#1
No emotion just math. 19 yr WB Capt currently at $335.56 per hour. New TA rate is $382.53 per hour.
$382.53 - $335.56 = $46.97 per hour difference. There were 21 pay periods since the contract expired. Over those 21 periods, I worked an average BLG of 85 hours.
$46.97 x 85 hrs = $3992.45 per month
$3992.45 x 21 months = $83,841.45
TA is offering $1450 x 21 = $30,450.
$83,841 - $30,450 = $53,391
$53,391 gone
And for those who want to dig deeper, if you do the same math for ~5500 pilots over those same 21 pay periods, the number far exceeds $150,000,000 that the company has saved. That funds quite a bit of the other parts of the TA.

Not to mention all the guys who retired since the amendable date who did not get the new retirement numbers.
Unconscionable.

Why would the company not drag it out when we as a pilot group allow it. We have our fellow pilots to thank for that. Ask all those hard chargers why they did what they did.
Looking at American and Delta‘s contract, they didn’t get even close to full retro either. Although I would like to have had full retro pay or a short negotiations time frame, it is apparent we don’t have enough pilots willing to fight for it with actions during negotiations.

And after a long wait you think you’re going to recoup any of that and not lose more all because you voted No??? FedEx will be happy if we vote no. They’ll drag it out much further.

About three weeks after the union said we’re getting nowhere all of the sudden the company says ok and we have a TA. Why was that? They KNOW we have a scope problem and they want it signed now. They were afraid more of us would see what a huge problem this is and more NO votes would be coming if they delayed any further. Plus AA and UAL contracts will be coming soon which will make us look even worse so…
And for the scope discussion ask yourself who put the language in there. It’s like a buddy of mine said…” when a guy has a condom in his wallet it’s there for a reason “. I agreed and said great parallel. It’s just like the company adding the language to the scope section…someone’s gonna get ****ed.

Man I can't wait for when this TA gets voted down and we will be working on lower than regional wages for the foreseeable future. The Mediator will look at our total package vs UPS and NOT Delta, and will put us on ice and tell us to come back once we know what we want as a unified pilot group, cause the company made over a 400 million dollar move toward getting this TA. All the while we'll be losing more and more money per pilot through this peak and most likely next, all while the company enforces 4.a.2.c. and b, therefore losing more money per pilot. Delta, United and American, will already be 2-2.5 years into their contracts getting ready for surveys and eventually openers for their next contracts. And there we will be, just finally unified in negotiating TA2, that will leave us even further behind after they leap frog us again 2 years after we sign TA 2 (maybe).
The infighting will continue for TA2 that is human nature and maybe it will pass in 2 years 53 to 47 for a measley 3-5% more on payrates and definitely no further increase to the legacy pension. But you know we may get CoC for our MBCBP, and a contribution rate just under Delta's. A few hundred more mandatory retirements will have left, and if we haven't furloughed, we will definitely have 300 or more that leave from the bottom due to stagnation, all while we have been flying an almost 10 year old contract, and the company is finished implementing it's DRIVE initiatives. And before the firing squad comes at me, I'm just offering another perspective just like the echo chamber on JFs. I've been through signing an industry leading contract, only to have it yanked, put in to bankruptcy, park jets, downgraded, and I was eventually furloughed.

So using your logic the company is only capitulating and now ready to concede because all the “hard chargers” have stopped? You do realize we’re overstaffed and there’s no extra flying to do right?

Finally, a rational reason. And this is definitely not the place of reason. Lots of misinformation and fear mongering here. Scope and "Standard termination" theories both debunked by the union response. Its interesting to see the union provided a detailed explanation of the TA and people just can't believe them.
