2. "Will require addl SPO training." OK, so don't do it. If you must, bid to go MCO, if you're JM/assigned/awarded SPO, then cough cough, ugh, I think...
But, good to know! We all know this is the fight. Ask all the engineers who got zapped by technology. Revenge of the nerds!

Don’t shoot the messenger, just what I heard during TA 1.0 negotiations. ALPA is wanted language for 2 man crews at the controls at all times and the company said it was a hard no like ALPA is with PBS when the company brings it up. I think our only chance of combatting it is the FAA doesn’t approve it. PAC better lobby hard on the Hill

everything is negotiable, know your worth! Hold the line! If other carriers can get the language, so can we

If the company is putting effort into researching this and Airbus is pushing their technology to accommodate it we'd be stupid to not pursue required cockpit manning TA2. I'm told we approached the company during this last negotiations on section 1 and they said absolutely not since it would inhibit the company's effort at advancing technology. Remember, this is the airline that turned a three person DC-10 into a two crew MD-10. People said that could never be done too. It's likely coming and we'd be foolish to not address it as a high priority on the next round.
