Hope you are right, I think the question is how much are we going actually carry vs times past.

Several potential bidders, besides UPS. Whatever the final details, the contract will be a shell of the prior one.

Postal contract wasn't until 1998 or later, not sure where you get 40 years from.

Indeed, FedEx is the only cargo company out there. Who else has been in the cargo business for decades who would be capable of flying mail around the country? It's so hard. Nobody else could possibly do it.

And it's totally tactics that the Postal Reform Act became law in April 2022, which requires the Post Office to fundamentally reform itself to include eliminating almost all contracts with outside agencies to ship mail. That isn't real. It's just a brilliant ploy by FedEx management to interfere with pilot contract negotiations. 🤦♂️

Actually, I believe that was the second installment of the deal. I remember the announcement in Dec 2000 I was in AOC and it was a big deal (the announcement)...it was combined with the original MOAB which saw new hires training in the 727 FE position, get MD-11 FO positions in the MD-11 with a one year wait for training. Looks like they were in formal talks in Sep 2000
