I flew with Capt Cotton. Long gone infamous dbag. He'd wanted dark cockpit at night going across the Atlantic. He'd come up during his break to check if we had the ligths off. Not sure why the OP really had time to point out pointless things but he's in for the same at any place he works. No one briefs the ATIS, not sure where that comes from. If a 777 LCA pointed out his tie, kinda a jerk but we do have an FOM that points out uniform policy. Seems like the OP has a hard time making great pay but not comforming to FOM and FM rules. I don't agree with all the changes FX makes but its my job and as a professional, its my job to follow company policy.

Right, I get that. We are currently on a 9 year CBA that’s 3 years past the amendable date..it’ll be a fight until the end, but the painkiller is coming.

There is a HUGE difference in attitude/opinion between the +20 year pilot and the -5 year pilot at FDX. (and the 777 is it's own entity.) The +20 year guys really have NO clue what's it's like for the bottom of the seniority list in today's environment, and frankly don't care. They can't fathom how anybody would want to leave this wonderful place. And to most of them, this is a great place. They fly great trips, make fat $$ and life is good. Sure it has it's nuances, but the "thats the way we've always done it" mentality works for them.... It doesn't work for the junior crowd who know better and want better and see the way it is at every other carrier (and should be) at FDX. So the choice for them is to either wait several more years through the stagnacy of being pigeonholed in the 75 FO seat for 6 + years, unable to bid for something else while waiting for a CPT training date from the 21-01 award that will probably never happen because as more MD displacements come, they will pushed off the bottom of that seat and lose that award, with the HOPE of getting a subpar contract or bail out now while the getting is good somewhere else. The group in the middle is fighting the hardest to improve things as they feel it's too late to leave. But let's be honest, FDX will never get an industry leading contract at this point because management doesn't look at the PAX carriers as equals.. Sure, a pay raise will happen, a higher signing bonus and some other minor improvements, but all the quality of life things that everyone complains about will still be there. ( Sub, R24, expense reporting, banks, etc..) Is the grass greener at the big three? Well it certainly is now and honestly at this point, I think it alwasy will be. By the time he contract settles here, the PAX carriers will already be in talks for their next contract so again FDX will be 4-5 years behind the curve.

As far as the AIM says about reporting leaving an altitude.. I brought that up to the then Flight Training Manager as I asked the local FSDO about that. Yes, it's in the FOM to report it, so yes you are "supposed" to do it at FDX, but the AIM says "SHOULD".. It does NOT say "MUST" report. Typical government lingo, but the point is you don't "have" to do it and that's why other carriers don't do it.

That long list was very entertaining to read. To my Purple Koolaid chugging brothers (and sisters), ya gotta admit, a few of them are valid!

I could be wrong, but I smell Embry Riddlesque “excellence” all over this poster though. 🤡

This is a legitimate complaint. The things the OP wrote? Most of it is laughable. I loved the complaint about the FAo doing their walkaround even when maintenance is doung one. So 2 extra eyes are not valuable?

Nothing like flying over the pond at night or doing night hub turns with the guy who insists on keeping the dome light on the whole way and then keeps asking

“are you going to deviate around that?”

Deviate around what? There’s nothing on the radar and I can’t see **** because you’ve got it brighter than a concentrated thermal solar plant in here.

Why don't you crack the smoke curtain while the plane is buttoned up and tell us all again how air circulates in your plane that you know so well.
