Is the grass greener at the big three? Well it certainly is now and honestly at this point, I think it always will be.
I came here in the early noughties. We flew converted pax planes to the dark, greasy side of the airport. We wore leather jackets and no hats. We slept during the day. We carried the jug of shame and sat sideways, staring at the same panels my dad did in the seventies.
We KNEW this wasn't the same job as Delta. Different animal. Apples and kiwi fruit. It is what it is.
Talk to somebody before you plunge into a job. See what it's like OVER TIME, not just in the sugar high we got in the late teenies when for a short moment we made more money than everybody.
I told you folks a year ago - our choice was A) Watch Raj shrink the company, or B) Make more money while we watch Raj shrink the company. We chose the first.
This is a pretty sad time in the pilot group. Nobody gave a sh!t about my opinions at ALPA when I was junior. Now nobody gives a sh!t about my opinions and I'm senior. Oh well. Maybe I'll post a list of grievances.....
Don't like my job? Don't let the door hit you in the a$$. Start working on your backup furlough job. Probably a good idea anyway.....

From: Recently Retired A320 Captain
I joined this forum today because of this thread. What an interesting post. I'm a 30+ year, recently retired captain at American Airlines, and it was quite a pleasure to read the gripes of a Fed Ex pilot. I feel bad for all the complaining I did at my company after reading the complaints by the OP. If they are real, I'm telling you that life at AA is better. Yeah, we complain, but it's better. The truth is, I miss the job, the flying, and the lifestyle, which is the polar opposite of the opinion of the OP. Good luck to us all.

....Until they furlough - a point that is going to become painfully clear sooner than you think.

We act like RS just arrived to the company. I get it we want to show respect to FS and everything must be rosy. However, I considered RS cut and molded under FS. The argument that RS went rogue after our founder stepped down was/still is illogical.
