Do you really think they are sharing all the communications between the FAA and Boeing ? I doubt that they would be making statements to the public about the return to service blindly with a hope and a prayer.

The crack Fedex management squad? Well, demonstrably, you've had far more faith in their competency and good intentions than I have.

If a new part has to be designed, certified, and manufactured then FedEx may change their mind. Or if it’s communicated to management by either Boeing or the FAA that the maintenance action could take a year to get approved, then FedEx might change their mind. It would be wise for Fedex to plan for retiring the planes while also planning for their return to service.
The replacement part was actually designed, certified, and manufactured years ago. It should be available on the shelf, although not necessarily in the quantity needed now. It was made available and recommended, but not mandated... that's about to change.

If they need to make more of them, it's a very simple part in the grand scheme, not unobtanium alloy or complex shapes or processes.

My guess is the procedure will be drop the engine and if the existing bearings are intact with normal wear, just replace them with the new version. If the bearings have unusual wear or have fractured then I'd guess they'll need to remove and NDT or replace the lugs as well, since the catastrophic failure was induced in the lugs by the fractured bearing. The lugs aren't very hard to remove or mfg either.

Ace,Rag on the C suite and management but they are making money, stock at its peak, making fools of us. We are the disfunctional idiots that can’t manage to get our crap together. If we did we would have had a great contract by now.

Except easy hore he has his own contract and doesn’t need to work for the collective good.

THIS IS PATENTLY FALSE. The current position of the stock price rests as much on massive repurchasing of stock as anything. The forward value of this place as a going concern drops by the day and the long-term health of FDX is being mortgaged for quarterly numbers. That's not management, that's a financial shell game.

But hey, when the balance of officer pay comes in the form of stock and options I guess that shouldn't come as a huge surprise.

‘It doesn’t take a Wall Street executive to figure out how having roughly 50 million less outstanding shares than 10 years ago would lead to a higher stock price.

Just because you have less shares doesn’t mean the company is generating revenues that Wall Street likes. Company still needs to perform.

With all your business and financial knowledge you guys should put in for a seat on the board.
