I think that “belief” in this instance is alluding to the different philosophical beliefs and cultures at those companies.
About what I guessed. Folklore at this point. But Dennis Muilenburg joined the co. just prior to all that drama. Total Boeing guy. Even this page has likely already turned now that you bring it up. Big bad mad dog is a long shot for return to service.

NotMrNiceGuy is 100% correct. PLUS, it was MDC management that implemented all of the extensive outsourcing, especially with the 787 and union breaking.

That’s definitely a lingering refrain. Old business model v global, things change. All primes are outsourced these days to one degree or another. The dual failure stab runaway fiasco was unfortunate as costly. Iconic brand, can only hope they manage to stay competitive. Same goes for FDX.

FedEx’s MD-11 comeback to start with short cargo flight to Miami
https://www.freightwaves.com/news/fe...light-to-miami

From the article - "“As of today, our maintenance team has completed repairs on two aircrafts, which have been pushed out of the hangar,” the flight ops chief added." Please tell me that "aircrafts" is a typo.

Margaret!!! Send my kilt to the dry cleaner - I'm gonna be away from Memphis for four hours!

So far yes.

The Federal Aviation Administration, which grounded the MD-11 and its predecessor the DC-10 after the fatal crash, must sign off on the fix and the inspection process before the planes could fly again. The FAA said Thursday its emergency airworthiness directive prohibiting further flights remains in effect.

Boeing deferred any questions about the MD-11 to FedEx and the FAA.

Well considering the Orbis MD-10 flew from TUL-SAT last week, I think the FAA grounding order now has some leeway.

That could be a one-off thing. How much does the Orbis airplane fly every year? I'd venture to say less than 300 hours.
