Historically, Boeing was led from an engineering perspective. Build great clean sheet aircraft and the business will grow.
McDonnell Douglas was more of an accounting/finance driven company. More focus on cost control and shareholder returns.
A lot of folks at Boeing feel like McDonnell Douglas culture took over after the merger and that The Boeing Company has been in a state of managed decline ever since.
I think that “belief” in this instance is alluding to the different philosophical beliefs and cultures at those companies.

NotMrNiceGuy is 100% correct. PLUS, it was MDC management that implemented all of the extensive outsourcing, especially with the 787 and union breaking.

FedEx’s MD-11 comeback to start with short cargo flight to Miami
https://www.freightwaves.com/news/fe...light-to-miami
From the article - "“As of today, our maintenance team has completed repairs on two aircrafts, which have been pushed out of the hangar,” the flight ops chief added." Please tell me that "aircrafts" is a typo.
Margaret!!! Send my kilt to the dry cleaner - I'm gonna be away from Memphis for four hours!

So far yes.
The Federal Aviation Administration, which grounded the MD-11 and its predecessor the DC-10 after the fatal crash, must sign off on the fix and the inspection process before the planes could fly again. The FAA said Thursday its emergency airworthiness directive prohibiting further flights remains in effect.
Boeing deferred any questions about the MD-11 to FedEx and the FAA.
