I haven't heard of FedEx hiring many retiring military types lately and based on some recent posts, it looks like that is a common theme.
I've spent the last 20 years flying heavy transport aircraft... Just wondering if getting time at a major pax carrier or time at Atlas, etc is more attractive to FedEx? Thanks!

Does FedEx have hiring preference to pilots coming from the freight world at places like Empire, Mountain air cargo, Amflight? Or would it be better to go to a 121 regional for a few years? I would go to Empire if they had some kind of flow to FedEx but to my knowledge nothing of the sort exists right now.

Last post - not so helpful. Just a suggestion, but it might help if you post factual information.
The most recent bid had 11 FOs awarded ANC. There were no vacancies on the bid, so those were a result of others upgrading, retiring or leaving the base.
Of those 11, all but one were hired in the last two years. The bottom 7 were all hired in 2017 with the most junior being hired in Dec 2017.
The base manning has shrunk over the last several years. With a fairly large percentage of locals there now, movement is pretty slow. Lots of local FOs just biding their time waiting to move left. It's unlikely that you'll see many senior folks suddenly bid ANC, hence the majority of the recent awards going to junior folks. So, I'd say your chances of getting there eventually are pretty good. However, it's probably unlikely (but not impossible) you'll get there for an initial assignment. It's definitely a possibility on future bids but how long that might take once you're hired is really all about the timing of our very infrequent bids (lately once a year at best). Obviously the guy just hired in Dec had pretty good timing.
