Only been here 3 years myself and I've already noticed a decrease in energy with an increased looming fatigue...sort of just feel tired all the time. I consider myself above average physical conditioning and borderline hyper-active...so it is easy for me to measure my digression. I'm very proud to be a FDX pilot and this was my realistic dream job. I expect to be compensated for the flying we do and the stress we put on our bodies...we cannot accept any lesser of a contract than we have already and we deserve a better one.

All of my buds have gone to Delta, United, and American. Right now I think that is a good short term move. If we get the contract we deserve, FDX will once again rise to the top of the wish list...where it should always be.

I've been around a while and I've seen the legacy carriers go bankrupt and furlough twice. FedEx and UPS zero.

Read Aesop's fable Tortoise and the Hare and insert Delta/United/American for the Hare and FedEx for the Tortoise. Life isn't easy, it's luck, timing and making the best of what you have. You can always apply for the pax guys while you have your job here. If you get hired then make a decision. Good luck.

Interviews

Got stuck in AOC Wed night due to icing event. Thursday on one of my many travels through our security I noticed a familiar looking suit siiting just inside AOC (blue suit, red tie, briefcase). Yep, in all the havoc that was going on outside we (Fedex) were interviewing. They were externals.

Can someone tell when the next application/hiring window will open?
I participated to the WAI in Dallas, and talked briefly with one of the recruiter, he mentioned about the application window opening soon but omitted the specific date.
He asked for a copy of my resumé, quickly reviewed and stated I have in excess of all the qualifications, however here a few questions for the FDX educated audience:
-My Background: exclusively Part 135 freight on demand, and passengers (many thousands on PIC on MTOW above 12.5k); past CP, CKA, DO. No military, all civilian. No military background would make me less desirable, given the current hiring status within the industry, and candidates going to the legacy pax carriers?
-Education: born and raised in Europe and completed studies and obtained diplomas back there, immigrated in the U.S.A. 15 years ago as an adult and never thought about achieving and US college/university degree. Just got deep into working hard and support myself and family. Further research shows no equivalency recognized. Is it a show stopper, would they accept it anyway, how is it considered?
-For Part 121, if hired now i could give it a good 1/4 of a century, of usable professional carreer left. Looking for the last career move...

Thank you in advance for all of your inputs.

When you look on the website, it shows the qualifications required.
https://fedex.pilotcredentials.com/i...qualifications

Specifically as far as education, it says: "Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university". It doesn't say it has to be from a US university, though.

However, though I am dead certain that there is absolutely no waiver available for any of their minimum qualifications, particularly the one that requires a Bachelors degree, but that should be something you're asking people who are actually doing the hiring. I doubt there are any major US carriers anymore that hire people without a college degree. There are ways to get a college degree that don't require four years of full time study, there are online courses and universities that compile much of your experience to allow less coursework for a degree. However, you need to make sure that it is accredited, based upon whatever accreditation that they require.

I know for a fact that currently the college degree requirement is in place. I also know for a fact that they use a service that you will have to pay for to determine the U.S. equivalency to the education from your country. If you want a definitive answer on your educational equivalency I would find a service and get an answer. You said you immigrated, but did you become a citizen? That is a must have also. FedEx uses ies.aacrao.org, Basic Statement of Comparability. $75.

Good afternoon FoxtrotBravo, immigrated and yes US Citizen since 2010.
Never knew about ies.aacrao.org, will consult them for sure. Thank you for the input.

Does anyone else think the title of this thread is a bit ironic???
Seriously, people, we've hired a whopping 7 people (internals) in the past 2.5 years! I wouldn't hold my breath for fedex. We're shrinking the pilot numbers, planning to do more with less. I'll believe we're hiring when I see fresh faces in the AOC. Until then...

Are there a couple hundred retirements a year starting this year?
