Default FDX 1 in 7 ready, go

Any reserve experts? Crew scheds called 3 hours into reserve day and said 1 n 7 right now back on tomorrow this time. Is it any 24 hr period or a full reserve day you should have off.

Call contract administration in the morning.

They will tell you "they can do that".

Bummer... doesn't really "feel" like a 1 n 7 being on call for half of two consecutive days.

That's why it is more commonly referred to as the 24-in-7 rule, and not
"1 n 7", as the [old] rules say you have to have 24 consecutive hours free from duty and the opportunity for duty should the occasion arise - within every 7 days. Therefore, that rule does not provide for a full calendar day off... although that would provide for more rest.
The new FAR 117 rules (pax carriers) are even more specific and restrictive (30 in every 168 hours), and hopefully - one day - it will apply to the cargo carriers as well... as it should. Sorry about that...

24 hours duty free. However was that 3 hours prior legal duty?

Legal...it happens to me all the time. 24 hours off anywhere anytime can count as your 1 in 7.

Do you have a copy of the CBA?

12.C.1.b. 1-in-7

A pilot shall be relieved from all duty for at least 24 consecutive hours at least once during any seven consecutive days.

Anybody else remember the "good old days" when you were on reserve for 24 hours and the "1 in 7" was look back. i.e., if they didn't use you, you had it? Pre cell phone days with a stupid beeper always on you and 15 minutes to call CRS when the thing went off in the grocery store, movie, driving down the road. If memory serves me, it took the FAA to fix that heinous reserve system. Things can always be improved but wow, we were really at the end of the whip back then.

AH,
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your reply... but are you saying that cargo pilots are now in favor of the "cargo cut-out" rule and therefore don't even want to operate under the new 117 rules? If so, I missed that development. Please explain? Thanks.
