Default What happens after a 'NO' vote.....

Ok,
We are being bombarded by "Vote 'no'" on this forum... But can someone lay out what that means after we kick it back? Is there a potential for being a big loser in that scenario? Even though our MEC is not "selling" this contract, it seems we are being completely left guessing what would happen if we reject this TA, while on the other hand laying out all the great stuff that the NC worked for. By the road shows only pushing education of the 'YES' vote, leadership is tacitly endorsing the TA. I don't even know if our union is prepared to reenter negotiations at that point. After all, were being told this is all there was to get....

"all we were able to get" with the current situation. A no vote changes that. The next negotiators can look at the company and say, the members said no and are ready to back it up.

At the roadshow in ANC yesterday the NC touched on this subject briefly. They're not really sure how the NMB or management will react to a NO vote. The company may offer some sweeteners or they could dig in their heals and try to make the pilots pay for any further delays. When you vote consider what level of risk you're comfortable with and if you want to call the bluff. Another factor that was mentioned is that the union is running low on money and prolonged negotiations would take a toll on the unions bank account.

That is funny at its core. Enough said.

Has anyone seen the sign up list for the next negotiators? I don't know him personally, but our current R and I guy seems pretty sharp. Anyone know someone equally qualified who is itching to jump into that role?

This would be great opportunity for our MEC, and CD in particular, to prove they are not endorsing the TA by spelling out the next few steps if we choose to accept the TA. I would imagine we would need to survey the force to detrermine exactly why we voted it down and for the MEC to decide if the NC is capable or willing to reattack.

After watching most of the TA webinars and videos, it seems to me the NC has a personal interest in passing this POS TA. Stockholm syndrome? I want to throw up every time I hear "the company said they can't afford" this or "drew a line in the sand" that. They same company that saved $350 million due to our efforts and then handsomely rewarded themselves...and then flaunted that. It is a business decision. It's the art of the deal. And we we vote this TA in, we just rolled over in my opinion.

If you guys vote no, the company has two choices, sweeten the pot, or dig their heels and brace for a ****storm of bad press, or worse case a strike. In the past, (American Airlines Pilots, and UPS Teamsters) the strikes were relatively short lived due to the critical nature of The services AMR and UPS contribute to the nations economic health. You roll the dice, but I can't see how FEdEx won't see sweetening the pot as the lesser of two evils. After all they are doing well financially. I see Rock ( FedEx pilot on another thread) thinks Fred won't buy it, and has little hope in an improved package.......what is it about Fred that scares so many of you guys...he seems to value you guys and works with you most of the time...just curious. As a UPS guy I think that the upside of a NO Vote outweighs any of the negative consequences.

I know they could have saved a few bucks by AT LEAST letting those of us who are comfortable operating in the 21st century to opt out of getting a paper copy of this POS.

My boat anchor just arrived. (via US priority mail?? - abuse of employee discount to send the TA via our own service? I'm guessing? )

I seriously doubt I'll even open it. Absolutely ridiculous - whoever were the ones hardover about sending this out in hard copy to every member should feel very, very stupid.

Good question, no answer.

This is funny but so true. I don't understand sometimes why our Union spends money on some things, lanyards that only we see and billboards. Are we really trying to convince the public we need a contract when people think we are grossly overpaid? I saw a billboard in Memphis, what a waste.

My paper copy went from mail box to trash.
