[QUOTE=Rock;1980407]If we vote it down, I certainly hope you're right. Currently Richard Anderson is on record as saying the next Delta contract will offer less than the TA they rejected. That statement has about the same value as "we deserve more", but at least publicly, Delta management did not take the rejection of their TA as some form of leverage that they want to resolve quickly. There is no word over there on when negotiations will even start again.
You are right Rock, we should all just vote yes. In fact, why don't we just give the MEC the right to agree to a contract without a vote from the pilots?
I've been here 20yrs. I've probably got enough in the 401K and B plan to not really have to have an A plan, but a lot of guys do. The pension is big for a lot of guys. It simply needs to be fixed. I don't have all the answers but I know there is a solution, money wise, to the retirement. What needs to happen is the company has to offer solutions and the Union needs to give us option to agree to. The closed door issue of retirement between the Union and the company needs to end. And no, we aren't going to sell anyone out.

Barely squeaked through my bachelors degree. But I am a firm believer that the best arguments rely on existing facts and data. There are certainly appropriate times to argue with hopes and wishes. For me personally, this contract isn't one of those times.

Other than the dialect, I can't imagine how you got Uncle Remus out of that. He told stories about animals, folktales, fables. He has nothing to do with your seeming willingness to bow down to the demands of The Company and accept the table scraps they're willing to part with. If playing the part of a plantation hand reminds you of a tar baby, I don't know how we can help you.
(If I had intended to compare you with Uncle Remus, that would have been a compliment. Don't flatter yourself.)

Actually Tony, I was trying to throw you a lifeline for your embarrassing and racially insensitive attempt to insult my intelligence. I understand the challenges inherent in your effort to try to coax your peers into voting in a way you believe will pad your personal retirement account, but you argue most effectively when you simply stick to listing all your gripes with the current TA. You obviously have no actual solutions, but at least by simply *****ing you have for the most part avoided looking like a member of the David Duke fan club.

Because every one of us should have the opportunity to vote on a contract that effects each one of us. But you can't rewrite history and you can't deny facts. Our elected MEC voted 10-4 in favor of a TA our NC negotiated with the company. We have every right to reject it. But at the point, we own the delay in getting a new TA negotiated and ratified. The company has obviously been dragging its feet. But they eventually came to an agreement with our union. If you don't think they will remind the NMB of that fact every time we demand a "CONTRACT NOW!" I think you are overestimating their good nature.
