Oh, but they promise it won't change vacation as we know it! 😡

Now I'd be really impressed if you could turn that into 7.5 weeks off with paid vacation

If I slide the vacation into AUG to knock out the AUG carryover trip, does the vacation red footprint move also. And if so, then can I bid a line in AUG that conflicts with that vacation and double dip? Make sense???

Yes and yes. That is exactly how I knocked out a trip in the last week of June and then a single departure line in July. I had 10 days last week of June and slid right 5. Ended up with 3 in June and 7 in July bid month.

Why anyone would want to sell back a summer vacation is beyond my understanding. I'll never sell back sick at fifty cents on the dollar, can't comprehend that one either. I guess I'm just clueless.

If you slide so it touches the first day of the C/O trip the red line only goes to the first day. Any Aug bid line trip that touches the footprint of the C/O trip is dropped for CIC. But onc that is done the red line is the only thing that is protected, you can add trips that overlap the original C/O trip but don't touch the red line.

Almost - you won't be conflicting with vacation in August, rather you'll be conflicting with the carry-in trip's (into August) ghost footprint.

The way I remember it working is that once you slide to the right to knock out the carryover trip into August, the red vacation line will only move 5 days to the right, it won't move to cover the entire carryover trip. When bidding for August, just remember the original footprint of the c/o trip, since it's 'ghost' footprint will be what allows you to conflict trips in early August - even though you won't even see the trip's footprint. Works like a champ.

I'm with you USMCFDX - I don't get how anyone can sell back summer vacation slots. Also, retiring from the company with a full sick bank, to get 50% of it back, well, to each their own... (as long as one is hopefully not sneezing and coughing all over the other crewmembers to protect the sick bank for the SLB).

I did almost the exact same thing! It can not be stated enough how bad PBS would be for us.

I would also add that the Bid Period Processing Summary is a great tool to avoid being surprised by what you thought would happen with your vacation, CIC, etc...

I once slide an 8 day block of VAC and knocked out 22 days worth of trips without touching a single one - ended up with almost 11 weeks off! Got paid for it all!

Correct, but in my case I slide 5 days so red line was 7 days into July.
