Delta pay rates were NOT on the table for us. UPS NURPs were NOT on the table for us. What was on the table for OUR negotiations was unity and resolve. We had the unity, of the vast majority of our then 4,200 pilots, regardless of the very small minority flying DRF/VOL/AVA. What we didn't have was the necessary resolve.... .
I wouldn't call 865 vacations sold back a "small minority". Looks more like 20% (yes some were multiple offenders). And don't forget the many whiners I heard that were lamenting that they were: "too junior to be able to sell back their vacation".

I get your point Red Letter, but by your estimate, with multiple repeat "offenders", I would imagine the actual percentage of guys selling back vacation was well below 10%, probably more like 5% when you consider guys with 4/5 weeks selling back. Yes, I consider that a minority.
It would be more interesting to me to know the number of flights cancelled due to lack of crews, as that is where WE were having an impact on negotiations. I know that on the MD alone, there were many very costly flight cancellations and tons of freight that was being left on ramps in Asia. And that was not even during Peak. Can you imagine what Peak would've looked like without a contact? If you don't think we had, and were using our leverage, then you probably have no hope for the future of our group's negotiations.

Some of the more vocal MD captains on this board were guilty of the same. I saw one who had vacation who still flew almost a full month of trips.

As an MD pilot, the last five months of negotiations, every F/O I flew with was flying extra. Extra flying wasn't draft, it was simply not protecting min days off.

Anyway, I'm sure people are tired of re-reading this same re-thread. Back on topic to the videos of how we can further negotiate away our retirement under the win/win scenario the company will offer us.

I don't care if you saw nurps (nutps?) and PBS as a distraction, the company saw both as productivity enhancers that would allow them to do the same work with fewer (thus cheaper) Union pilots, just like their competitors. We said no and it affected our hourly pay rate.
It matters not whether the people flying extra is .01% or 100%, what matters is if the company had the manning (and the contractors) to fly peak. And they did.
