I didn't realize FedEx delivery vehicles were currently frequent targets of armed robbery.
Time for shotgun riders.

I'm not the one that said it's a possibility. Just pointing out that it's ridiculous to think a driver can do anything to stop it besides calling the police after.

Perhaps the driver is a deterrent proving Huck's point. Imagine a robot pizza drone flying over your back yard. It hits a kite and falls to earth and you score free pizza. Are you more likely or less likely to fly kites?

...except that the "ridiculous" idea that human drivers have an impact on the vulnerability of FedEx trucks getting robbed seems to be supported by the current reality that human driven trucks aren't getting robbed.

The next obvious step is to arm the robot driving the truck. And we all know what happens once we arm the robots. That's right, they will murder all of us.

Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 am Eastern Time, August 29th. In a panic they try to pull the plug...

You know, Johnny, I sense a little skepticism in your reply. Some of us are getting older and for those over 50, the threat from robots is all too real.

Just like the age 54 bonus money and the VEBA cash, it's time to put some robot insurance into the contract for our aging pilots. The young guys can afford to wait on it, but the guys nearing retirement aren't so fortunate.

Because when they grab you with those metal claws, you can't break free........because they're made of metal....and robots are strong.

The guy driving the truck does not have to stop just because someone
steps in front of him. The robot is almost guaranteed to stop. Holding a driver at gunpoint can also bring aggravated kidnapping charges.

Huck,

You do realize that everything you've said in this thread is totally crazy, don't you? First of all, by the time these robots/drones take over the delivery of FedEx packages, Arizona will be the new West Coast. Watts, Oakland, Interstate 10 will all be just a memory. You could be correct about Chicago, however.

And are you really saying that if a crook breaks into my house and steals all of my wife's sex toys, if no one was home to witness the theft, than in never really happened? Really?

As I told a friend a few years ago, like the monkey who didn't have control of a switch that randomly gave him a shock, if you can't control something, it doesn't make a lot of sense to stress about it. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen. The best you can do is do the best you can, and enjoy your time here.
