It ends when no one can afford to buy anything because all of the jobs have been outsourced to automation. Due in part to cupcake nation demanding $15/hr to poorly man a cash register (as your post eluded to with regards to home depot).

When I see a robot driving a bus or train, then I'll start worrying about my aviation career.

Also, the minute a drone hits a kid, it'll be over.

Let's hope the robots know about Asimov's Three Laws.

I was kind of making a joke about the robots killing everyone. However, the smartest guys in the room (Hawkings and Gates to name a few) have said that one of their biggest fears is this race to create the best and fastest AI and the problems that will create.
Guns on robots that have been given the freedom to act of their own accord will be the least of our problems.

So actually, I guess I wasn't making a joke, I'm whistling through the graveyard.

Robots will not transform Fedex or any other company, automation WILL.

We are DECADES away from "automation" changing our jobs. But the Fedex Express/Ground guys? That's a new story! Amazon has this app which lets ordinary people deliver their stuff! THIS IS A BIG ****ING DEAL!

FEDEX drivers typically drive the trucks, and they are either Fedex employees or they are Fedex Ground, which are independent contractors. But they are ALL licensed commercial drivers. Amazon Prime drivers are NOT, they are a bunch of people driving around in their own cars without licensing and without INSURANCE!

This is BAD! Say no to deliveries to your house from Amazon that do not come by Fedex/UPS!

Just out of curiosity how do you say no to an Amazon delivery? I'm a regular amazon shopper, maybe I missed it, but I don't remember that option.

For the record ...

Unless they are carrying certain Hazardous Materials, FedEx couriers do not have any special Driver License. They are not "ALL licensed commercial drivers." Most drivers have nothing more than your run-of-the-mill Class D license.

What they DO have is formal training.

...And they do those exercises before they get behind the wheel.
