Flight schools - High Schooler need help

Routes? You wanna know about routes?
Then go to www.jetcareers.com and look at the home page. Doug has done a great job of spelling out what the career is about and different ways of entering it. You'll see a link called "perspectives" and you'll find my "route" along with quite a few others.
As it says in my profile, I'm a UPS 757/767 Capt based in Ontario, CA.
What would I do different? Not gone to Riddle. Bought a Cessna 150 early on to train and instruct in. Also, I left flying for about a year to chase an ATC job. That didn't help any, I wish I had stuck out the flying job I was in at the time though the reasons for leaving were valid. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.
By the way, the notion that one should go military just so one can "be an airline pilot" isn't too popular. Especially among those who serve. One should have a high interest in serving the country and be willing to make quite a few sacrifices if one is going to take that route.

Through the military is the only way I would recommend heading to ERAU. Have somebody else pay for your tickets and tuition if that's where you plan on attending. Otherwise, I think you'd be wise to steer clear of Riddle...that's just me, IMHO as a PRC graduate.

I'm a Riddle grad also. However, I'm sort of the loyal opposition.
Although Riddle is expensive and if you were majoring in something other than a flight program i.e. Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Meteorology, Applied Mathematics, Physics; Airport or Airline Management; Aviation Maintenance (Management) then, I'd say Riddle is for you. Since you're not, go to a State Univ and fly at a local FBO.
As far as the AF Academy, if you got the right stuff....go for it. Truly a rewarding experience I'm sure.
I enjoyed a career in airport management & operations after finishing from Riddle. I've spent the last 10 years in Sales & Marketing and have decided to become an airline pilot at age 46. Time is your ally. If I were in your shoes...I'd do the AF Academy.
