I usually just carry my headset around since all charts, flashlights, fuel strainers, et cetera typically stay in the King Air.

However when my flight bag was in full effect it housed to following:

1. Headset
2. Approach plates
3. Sectional and Lo Enroute Charts
4. AFD
5. Flashlight
6. Pliers (to lossen pesky overtighened oil dip sticks in trainers)
7. Dry erase markers
8. Pens / Pencils
9. E6B
10. Calculator

ummm.. i think that's about it

Extra small binder with jepp sized "handouts"
-ALPA duty time/reserve rules
-Contract
-JSAP/ASAP program forms and info
-WX Radar book
-Company airport information pages
Company Flight Standards Manual
Company Flight Operations Manual
2 D cell Mag Light (for whomping)
2 lithium battery small 6" halon flashlight (for preflights)
Captains Atlas
Aluminum Can with:
-extra pens,
-highlighter,
-paper hole fixer things,
-a small stapler,
-Aircraft Circuit Breaker list/Mechanical Malfunction Cheat Sheet,
-spare checklist,
-spare weight and balance forms,
-manual dispatch forms, and
-AM radio station list.

Do you carry the hammer just in case you need to take your own life?
