I let it lapse
I know about 3 lines down is a CFI thread, but alas, mine lapsed years ago. I know a checkride is the only way to get it back. Anybody taken a CFI requal checkride recently? I had the double I and MEI and understand with one ride, I can get them all back. Also, unlike a new CFI candidate, I can hire any qualified DE instead of a Fed.
I figured I'd take one of those recurrent web courses, go check out in a Citabria, and find a good CFI to make sure I'm up to speed. Surely one of you posters has been through all this, care to share your experience.

Any particular reason to use a Citabria? Nothing wrong with that, but if you already have time in a 150 or something it'd seem to be easier. Now if you're qualifying or getting current in a taildragger, then combining that with your reinstatement is an excellent idea.
Until a couple of years ago I would just take the ride instead of the refresher course - it's all done in an afternoon that way. It has never been a big deal.

That explains THAT! I don't see many Citabrias that are configured for instrument work, though. You might try to find out what the examiner usually expects before you pick the CFII route. Whatever - like I say it usually isn't that big a deal. Good luck.
